| Hi there
I also don't think we need to worry about Dai-chan but still I sometimes do :-)) That's perhaps because we follow each move he makes, we are pretty much involved somehow although we are not that close to him physically ...
Osan, that wasn't boring at all! I'm a football fan and I can exactly understand what you are talking about!
By the way, the Japanese footballer Shinji Kagawa (still playing for a German team right now which won 2 titles in the last couple of weeks!) is a very young man who is so good in what he is doing! I'll be sad when he leaves for England - but I can also understand that he wants to climb up the ladder and go further ...
Cheers Gudrun.

Funny, I was worring about him a lot, but not any more now Smile
Just to correct this, Dai used to land two quads easily in the long program before the injury. So Utako-sensei last year said that she does not have any worries over Dai's quads, because he will be able to do what he was able to do in the past. I also believed that. And See what has happened? Just like Utako sensei said, See Anyway, do not worry too much over Dai, he is in good hands.

| Is this the ice rink that Dai's trains at? With the ice rink shortage in Japan it would be a shame to close any rink, but I understand it could be a financial risk for the owners.
I Goggled the translation into English so I am not sure if I am understanding the article correctly.
Thank you fosse. | |

| Thank you for the heads up, fosse (and for all other times you found and posted Daisuke-related news ) Great to see Daisuke giving back to the community once again! On a superficial note: love that pic! No facial hair = younger look | |

be a shame to close any rink, but I understand it could be a financial risk for the owners. This is a rink that Dai trained before Dai's university built its own rink for him.( I mean for the skating club of Kansai University.)In 2008, there was a discussion of selling this rink, but it was decided that the rink would continue its operation under the condition that Osaka-fu would not provide any financial assistance. However, Osaka-fu required to strengthen the building against future earthquake by the year 2015. The procedure will cost about $ 2.7 million. The rink is in the financial struggle, because it is impossible to raise this much of fund. Well in short, Governor of Osaka-fu said that his state will make it happen, if Dai leads fund raising and collect at least half the amount." Dai- Ganbare!!

Genki, thanks for explaining. It doesn't look fair at all, does it? Dai can't take responsibility for buildings. It's a duty of government and state. There was an article in Chicago gerald tribune by Phil Hersh, named "Japan figure skating still rising" IIRC where he said, "official from JSF said, there are few skating rinks in Japan, most of them in awful condition, so I don't know how we have such good skaters". It's not a strict quote, just what I remember.

Genki, thank you for the detailed explanation! 2.7 mil : 2 = $ 1.35 million. That's a lot of money to raise! What a challenge for Daisuke. But, because it's needed by the year 2015, there's time. Daisuke could do it after 2014 Olympics. Enaufomay, thank you for the link! Daisuke's presence and charisma really add warmth to the official meetings

| Thank you all for your contributions, it's great to be up-dated :-)))
I love Dai-chan in his suit :-))) What a charming and good looking man :-))
If Dai-chan doesn't feel it as a too strong burden for him to do fund-raising, I think it's fine. But only if he really can take it as something like a "game". Do you know what I mean? I'm sure he would love to help and do all he could ... and I'm sure people would generously give money if they see Dai-chan puts his heart into it ...

| Gudrun, it's what I'm talking about. Why cannot Osaka gov. take care of that ice rink? Are officials expecting that Dai will collect "at least half of amount" for all ice rinks that in struggle. He might do it, becoming a politician someday. But right now, when I think that this serious deal will take part of his time, when he need to focus on his trainings. I can't help but feel it's wrong. Though probably, Dai already started an action to help that ice rink. | |

| I want Dai to concentrate on his trainings now, too. One of the Japanese skaters should take a gold medal at Sochi at least. Even so, it seems almost impossble to solve all these difficult problems we have right now in Japan. There are too many....and it's really overwhelming. But Dai will do everything he can do and spur us to greater effort again, I believe. Like Osan said before, I too dream of a memorable moment at the Olimpics or Worlds 2014. Dai is such a dramatic skater and leading a dramatic life. It's almost as if we were on a roller coaster with him. Nobody knows what would happen, but it should be an exciting one!! No injuries this time, never!! (I think his right knee is OK because he has two ligaments!?) Sorry, it's me again (definitely not you, Osan), too serious and boring | |

| I enjoy to read you, guys.
I want to be in Sochi to share that memorable moment. Worlds 2014 will be in Japan. I think it will be truly great, moving farewell of Ace of Japan. But I doubt I could be there. There is not so much left time for us to watch Dai's competing. We have nothing to do with it, only value every moment.

| Problems with the ice rinks in Japan? It seems impossible to me: there are so many amazing skaters in Japan! In Italy the problem is serious, due to expensive costs for a not very supported sport, but in Japan the skating is so popular! I certainly know that Japan has a lot of expenses after the terrible earthquake, but the great and brave Japanese people will overcome all difficulties. I'm sure of this. I agree with you:Daisuke should focus on training and programs for the next season, because the competition is tremendous (even among Japanese male skaters). Bye, Osan

I think Daisuke and Chan are rather easier way than other top skaters.
Skate america...wow.. if Evan were assigned there, that could be really tough.
