| Thanks for sharing the great interview Pattina and a big thank you to Captain ostile! Dai is so straightforward, honest and humble about his participation in LOTF. There would be no LOTF without him. Dai is the star and although everyone in the show is extremely talented, in Japan Dai's name sells tickets, but humble Dai speaks of himself as just one of the cast members. His humble nature is one of the many reasons why he is loved by his many fans and coworkers no matter what venue he is involved in.
Loved the Skaters vs. Athletes videos thanks for sharing! Dai was really into it especially the dancing part he was amazing!
Looking forward to Part 2 of the interview!

True words!! In AOI's show booklet and during Swiss tv broadcasting, Daisuke is described as "a superstar, a rockstar" to explain his great popularity in Japan. But his nature is miles away from this role. - Shyla wrote:

Dai will appear again in K&C Dance Dance Dance magazine! Here is a video of photo-shooting. Watch carefully because Dai is super hot and handsome!! but once again I can see his humble and shy attitude while posing in front of camera. https://youtu.be/BG88RvhxznEHave a Dai-gorgeous Dai-day

| As always, thank you so, so much for keeping us up to date, Pattina! True story: For a few days after you created the new thread, I was still checking the old one (because I had it bookmarked), wondering why you hadn't been posting for so long! - PATTINA wrote:

I agree wholeheartedly with all of this! In the AoI programme/in the TV broadcast he was also described as extremely shy off-ice while being a formidable entertainer on the ice. Although I think they exaggerated a bit with the "extremely shy" part (or at least I think it's only true when he's tense and/or in a foreign environment, in which he has to converse in English), it's the contrast between his intense on-ice vs. his rather casual, humble and dorky off-ice personality, that I find incredibly fascinating and endearing. - Twind wrote:

Thx a bunch for the translation, Twind! Help, I can't breathe!!! Dai-chan is too much sometimes. Also thank you minotsu/flapper-dai for bringing us a translation of the "XOI 2016 Behind the scenes" feature, in which Kenji talked about Dai's and Steph's collaboration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thznfCRyxwUDid we already have these alternate versions from the last day of the show? I think Dai looks more relaxed in these performances and his and Steph's bows/hugs at the end of their duet are super lovely. Dai fighting with extraterrestrial mushrooms (sometimes I really think he is just making a fool of us and he has a great fun doing it) HB, thanks a lot for links to XOI!!! Dai is so lovely when Steph turns to exit and Dai bows to him You can see on their faces how happy and proud they are of their performance. Really a pity that Ice Legends 2017 has been cancelled, I was hoping to watch "Anthem" live. - HB wrote:

Quite true. Shy when he has to face first time with unknown people/environments. Look at the first meeting with Cheryl in front of tv cameras. He was stiff and almost scared by Cheryl's open and strong personality. Now they are very good friends. And Mao said in an interview (last year, maybe) that when Dai practices she is quite intimidated by his strong charisma and personality but as soon as he is off ice, he turns into a dorky guy, often stumbling in his own feet and making all Team Japan laughing FujiTV schedule for Words 2017 with Dai as Navigator. https://www.facebook.com/DaisukeTakahashiRoadtoSochi/posts/987728278031404Indeed I was a bit surprised that at 4CC Dai didn't interview skaters after competitions, as he did at Nats. More surprised after the big results of Yuzuru and Shoma. Oh my, that would've been a real treat. But fear not, we might get our chance next year! (fingers crossed) Maybe with a brandnew duet or another exquisite group collaboration like "Le Poeme". - PATTINA wrote:

And Mao said in an interview (last year, maybe) that when Dai practices she is quite intimidated by his strong charisma and personality but as soon as he is off ice, he turns into a dorky guy, often stumbling in his own feet and making all Team Japan laughing Yup, it really seems to depend on the situation. Of course we only get brief glimpses of his personality from our encounters with him, but when I met him for the first time for instance, I was way more introverted than him and he was quite talkative while I ended up being almost completely tongue-tied. That was after the last AOI 2015 performance in Zürich when he was probably a bit more relaxed than after the earlier shows. There was no aftershow-party on Sunday and he didn't have to get up early the next day, because they didn't leave for Lausanne before the afternoon, I think. So he didn't get back to the hotel right after the show, but way after midnight when there was noone left in the lobby except for me and a lovely fellow fan, that I had just met. We were spending the evening talking over a few drinks not even expecting to still meet Dai-chan and then *kaboom* he came in through the main entrance, accompanied by a genuinely happy looking Utako-sensei and Ihara-san. When we approached him he was smiling from ear to ear and upon my request to sign my copy of his freshly published biography, he reacted in typical dorky Dai-fashion. ("Ooooh, you have the book!" Followed by gesticulating excitedly in Utako-sensei and Ihara-san's direction, explaining the situation to them in Japanese. ) He was sweet as candy and anything but "extremely shy". (Admittedly there might have been a few alcoholic beverages involved to put him at ease, but still... ) - PATTINA wrote:

Keeping my fingers crossed that he gets to interview TJ at Worlds! To my knowledge he hasn't interviewed Yuzu so far, not even briefly. I'm sure hoping for him to have an opportunity to catch up on that. ( Edit: Hmmm, doesn't really look like it from the schedule. ) - PATTINA wrote:

Awww, cuteness-alert! He just looks like one of them in his white shirt and black jacket. Look at that penguin to the left - it's like "what is that strange man doing?" News Zero informs us that Dai-chan didn't only "play" with penguins, he also examined jellyfish in a jar (!) during his visit of an aquarium for tomorrow's Spotlight episode. (Thanks to DTRTS for the translation!) https://www.facebook.com/DaisukeTakahashiRoadtoSochi/posts/988213771316188Actual scientist Dai!!! Turns out that dream was some sort of foreshadowing and somehow jellyfish look kinda alien indeed. Yes, Pattina!!! I'm gonna add my congratulations to yours : The happiest of birthdays to our handsome, gifted artist on many different stages, who has given us so much joy over the years with his passionate performances, his infectious laughter, his adorable personality and his beautiful smile! I'm immensely proud of him for what he has achieved since his retirement, especially during the past year and a half after he returned from NY. He took on many varied challenges and mastered them brilliantly. Even if he often felt insecure at first and acknowledged the possibility of failure, he never shied away from tackling these perceived obstacles, always managed to overcome his initial jitters and has proven time and time again that he can succeed at anything when he puts his mind to it. I still get quite emotional thinking back on the time when he was burnt out and it looked like he might quit skating, even remove himelf from the public eye altogether. Of course I - like most of his devoted fans, I'm sure - would've accepted this, if it meant he'd find peace of mind and happiness. In this light it's all the more wonderful that he was able to get his groove back, that he regained the feeling of having a purpose and that he decided to continue sharing his beautiful art with us. His dream- and soul-searching journey might not be over for a long time to come, but as long as he keeps challenging himself and enjoys the process, I'm happy for him. I will always cheer him on, no matter which path he chooses to go down next. Everything he's giving us at the moment feels like an encore, which I am so, so grateful for. May the future hold many more pleasant experiences and surprises for you, dear Dai-chan! Thank you for generously sharing so much with us, for letting us be part of your journey, for pulling at our heart-strings with your gorgeous performances and please never stop being your endearing, dorky self! - PATTINA wrote:
- OMG, he is 31 now... and looks almost ten years younger
In the past I always thought that he looked more mature than his actual age. (Which is a good thing in my eyes btw! ) I remember being quite astonished when I found out that he's 4 1/2 years younger than me after discovering him at the Vancouver Olys! But I've always been bad at estimating people around my own age for some reason. One thing's for certain: He keeps getting hotter year after year! He's maturing like a very fine wine. - PATTINA wrote:

Omg, are you trying to kill me? The picture of Dai on the beach is one of my favourite shots of him! He looks like a proud and experienced hunter of indigenous descent there! Love that natural look! - PATTINA wrote:

Of course YES!! And apologize for skipping to reply before. HB, your comment about Dai-chan's birthday moved me on the brink of tears. Great words!! Thank you for sharing. Dai again on Kiss&Cry Dance Dance Dance with new pics. I tried a translation with on-line helpers... so please do not trust me too much and try for yourself... the article is sort of preview of the long interview. As far as I can understand, Dai appreciated the way the stage was arranged for shooting The book they gave him as "stage prop" had an article on figure skating and Dai was reading it eagerly and very interested. The magazine is issued on 16th March and so they are happy of this coincidence. Dai revealed that the ring he is now wearing on his left hand has the sign of his zodiac sign (i.e. Pisces). http://www.tvguide.or.jp/feature/kissandcry/20170316/01.htmlPart 2 of Kateigaho interview, focused on approaching Worlds in Helsinki http://minotsu.tumblr.com/post/158423069858/daisukes-interview-from-kateigaho-2nd-halfIn same blog, translation of DiGa and Spice interviews. Thanks a lot to kind translator!!! One more TV appearance on March 23 at 00:45 Japan Time on FujiTV. It's all Dai's fault - he inspires us and makes us passionate and care about him! And apparently it's not only us fans. Dai is cool and stylish Daisuke Takahashi Road to Sochi gives us a more precise translation of Meringue post!! WOW, seems Dai will reveal so many things. Huge fan of Miki Ando, in January or February he was invited in a tv show and introduced to her. Now she is his follower... and Dai is a follower also, on IG.
