But I'm glad I can show this additional medal in front of the people in Okayama." Look at the peple running after the car!! A bit scary. The weather was nice for a convertible car parade. http://svr.sanyo.oni.co.jp/news_s/news/d/2010040612063197/http://mainichi.jp/enta/sports/general/news/20100406k0000e040031000c.htmlHe was given a People's Honor Award of Okayama Prefecture at the prefectural government. He is the first award winner of it. Congratulations, Dai-chan!! http://www.47news.jp/CN/201004/CN2010040601000255.htmlAsked what kind of girls he likes, he answered "A girl who keeps talking all the time." - Calliope wrote:

According to Stephane Labiel's official site, this year's DOI is June 25-27, 2010. I don't know if Dai-chan can participate in it, considering to have a surgery in May. (though it's not been determined yet.) http://www.stephanelambiel.ch/?lang=en&p=skating&sm=agendaBTW, what is "Fantasy on Ice"??

TAKAHASHIIII!" cracks me up. As do all the other people going crazy there. It truly is "Daisuke Fever"! Articles: http://www.okanichi.co.jp/20100406121327.html http://www.jiji.com/jc/c?g=spo_30&k=2010040600721 http://sankei.jp.msn.com/life/trend/100406/trd1004061804009-n1.htmThey say that 10,000 people turned out for the parade in Okayama and 25,000 in Kurashiki! That is just mind-boggling! After the insane schedule he's had over the past few days, I hope he can hole up in his room and rest before heading to Tokyo for SOI this weekend! - miyu wrote:

| Thank you so much for the linking vids and many information, miyu and calliope!! It's a surprising view that the 10,000 people went to see Daisuke at the parade. And more news, he's participated in the road safety campaign in Okayama pref. after the parade as a road safety ambassador for one day. He said "Go!!" to the police white bikers. 高橋大輔選手が「一日交通安全大使」 http://mov.sanyo.oni.co.jp/news_okayama/?d=2010040602 - miyu wrote:

Yes!! It was a big present for us! Daisuke was so glad to come back his home at last. It's really hard schedule for Daisuke these days and I think he should take a rest for a while after the PIW. _________________ GO DAISUKE!!

| OMG, Daisuke Fever indeed! He's earned it. It's so heartwarming to see how so many people are happy for him! Very moving Leode, I second that! I've always hoped Daisuke would do a photosession in some kind of national costume, one day. Hi marie! Nice to meet you Oh, Daisuke does those jumps as if they're very easy Piece of cake! Great performance. Have a nice time at SOI! | |

Oh, so that's what it was! I saw him wearing that sash in a news video, and I thought it was really funny because he looked like a politician running for office. I didn't know he was being a safety ambassador! - ericacsy wrote:
- 13th? I still don't really understand how the Standings work.
The standings are based on the current season (now 2010-2011) and the past two seasons. The ISU just deleted all the points from the 07-08 season, and since Daisuke had zero points from 08-09, he dropped down the standings again. - ericacsy wrote:

this video (at the end) said that he's going to perform at DOI (?) No, that promotion was for Diamond Ice, not Dreams on Ice. We don't know anything about DOI yet except that it's going to be at the end of June and Stephane will be in it.

| HI Everyone! Thanks a lot for so many info re:Dai. It is really great! This is a video of the parade of Okayama-city, his hometown. I usually go through this city when I visit my brother in Japan, but never stopped there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2na5W8gFxs&feature=player_embeddedI also watched interview by Okayama's skating federation president. When the president told Dai that he believes that Dai's step surpassed that of Yagudin, Dai shook his head and his hand saying," No, No." He is so humble . Amazing, never be arrogant. Don't you all believe that Dai's step is better than Yagudin's? | |

In this video, both Mao and Dai-chan is very humble and CUTE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31dcv7cvGScI: interviewer M:Mao D:Dai-chan From 0:55 I:What do you think of each other? M: I'm fascinated by his skating. I hope I can do various expressions like Dai-chan. D: (he shook his head with a shy smile.) D: I practice with her occasionally, she is a pretty hard worker. M: So is Dai-chan. D: She is very good at steps. M: Noooo. I'm not good as Dai-chan. I: Takahasi-senshu, you are also great. People say the best step in the world. M: Yes, the best in the world. D: Nonononono... She is great. She always does couples of steps during warm-up and they are SO great. I respect her. I:Asada-senshu is like your younger sister? D: Yes. But I often feel "She's grown up!" these days. I used to think she was a kid. Recently I feel a bit lonely to know I'm wrong, she's become a woman. It's so funny this is a typical conversation between Japanese people. Like "You are great." "No, YOU are great." "No, no, it's YOU who are great."

| I just got back from Stars on Ice in Tokyo... Today was the opening night!
And it was the short version of La Strada Daisuke skated to. The crowd went nuts when he finally came out. His opening Triple Flip was HUGE! I think it was definitely the biggest jump of the entire evening, the whole arena shook with the sound he made with the landing of it. Very powerful.
He did that huge 3 flip, then 3 axel, then the circular step, 3 flip-3 toe combination, 3 salcow, then straight line step sequence to the end. He came in the 3rd from the last, (Mao was the last, Tessa/Scott were the 2nd last), and he got the first standing ovation of the night.
I wish he did the entire program though - Nobunari did his entire Chaplin program, and Takahiko also skated most of (or entire) free program, too.
I felt the show overall was very nice - so many of Olympics/Worlds chamipons/medalists. Kurt Browning's presence was amazing, Jeff Buttle was just gorgeous, Shizuka was elegant and graceful, Shen/Zhao were spectacular, then Takeshi, Joannie, Tessa/Scott, Cynthia, the entire Japanese Olympic team, plus Kanako Murakami and Yuzuru Hanyu...
The only thing was, that I felt the ticket was very expensive.... I paid much more than NHK trophy's best seat or World Team Trophy exhibition's best seat, and yet today's seat was kind of far end (it was still the second best class seat). couldn't get to see Daisuke's facial expression much. Too bad...
Those who didn't get to go, I think you'll enjoy just as much with the TV show, too - they said tonight's show will be aired on Sunday evening in Japan.

| I just caught up with all of the various performances from Wrold's and OMGs was I happy to see Daisuke and various others winning medals and having performances that they're really proud of this time! =] Sorry this is uber late but congrats everyone! My figure skating knowledge is still miniscule but talking about daisuke's performance, I think they were cleaner than his Olympic ones,a nd yes he landed his first jump in the FP. =D And glad to see Joubert finally performing well(without too much bad luck.xD) and getting a medal again. And gosh the ladies' performances were awesome also! I swear some of them seem to do more jumps than the men and how come they still don't get as many points as the men? Excuse my poor-understanding of the scoring system.^^ (and wooop, Mao has beaten Yuna..XD). Gosh Japan certainly looks crazy with all the figure-skating madness around! Ahh another reason why i wish I could go to Japan now..D= | |
