Thanks, MissC!
Dai-chan looked so cute and sweet throughout the vid but look at his face @ 4:18 after Kuamakawa-san said he could rotate 8 times. The pride of a quad jumper? LOL!!!
(I think he just joked.
Because he went to PIW to see Mao last May and Mao went to see his stage, too. )
Tetsuya Kumakawa

(And this music remind me of
Takeshi Honda in Saltlake City.)

Part: 1
From 2:24 (Sorry for my poor translation.. The show was so funny but my tranlastion doen't sound funny...)
A: TV announcer, Azumi-san D: Dai-chan
A:You have long sideburns as I expect.
D:Really?
A:I know it's you because of the length of the sideburns, from a distance.
D:I'm kind of dense in many ways.
A:You didn't jump at all. Do you practice jumps another day?
D:Well, I can't jump well because I took off and didn't skate for a while. I did jumps a little ago but there was no sign of my jumps... Even myself was surprised.
A: So you can't jump today.
D: I can, but please don't expect much.
D:(After he popped 3Lo.) I missed...
A:Never mind! (
)
A:(After he landed a 3Lo.) Great!
D:In fact I can do it better.
A:I know it, I watched it on TV.
D:In fact I can do more.
A:It was vigorous.
D:I wanted to show you something better.
A:Don't worry, I know it, I watched it on TV.
(It's interesting he never says excuses in competitions but Shizuka called Dai-chan "the prince of excuse" once before. And now I can see why she called him so. ) A:I wonder how the world famous level4 slst looks like. I don't mean I want to see it.
D:Without music, it would look rather dumb.
A:Ok, I will sing for you here.
Laugh
A:What kind of song do you want?
D:Up to you.
A:How about Yuki Saito's Graduation? (An old song (80s?) of a Japanese idol)
D:Sorry I don't know it. But it's OK.
A:Then do you prefer Momoko Kikuchi's Graduation? (Again another idol's song.)
D:No idea.
A:OK, with Yuki Saito's Graduation.
D:(After he finished slst.) ???? (I can't hear.)
A:I know it, I watched it on TV. It's fantastic.
D:Without music, it's a bit embarrassing.
A:No, Yuki Saito's Graduation was just good with your step.
From 5:40
The Story of Dai-chan. Here is the summary of the story.
He was born on March 16 1986 as the youngest child of four brothers. His mother was disappointed because she wanted to have a girl. So she often dressed him as a girl. (Look at the picture @ 7:00.
)
Dai-chan was a timid little boy. After school he spent time at the barbar shop where his mother worked and rarely went out to play. The daughter of the shop, Hideko-san who named him after the ilde called "Daisuke Shima"(@9:00 LOL
), was an important person for him. His parents worried about him and recommended him various sports but he kept saying "No".
Part2:
He finally met figure skating. It was the first sport which he wanted to do voluntarily.
But figure skating is a kind of expensive sport. Dai-chan's family wasn't so rich that his mother and Hideko-san made his costume by hand and his mother did a part time job in night after she worked in the barber shop to pay his costs for figure skating.
And the local people also helped him a lot. The customer of the barber shop left their changes for him. There was a donation box in the shop, too. There also were such customers who brought half-price tickets of the ice rink or drove him to and from the rink occasionally.
Part3:
He stepped up to senior but things didn't go well. He also found his university mates enjoying their univertity life freely. Due to those frustrations, he frequently played around with this friends until late in night. He thought of quitting figure skating at that time. But he got motivated again and won the ticket to Turin Olympics.
After this, I think you guys know well about Dai-chan's story.
Part4:
From 4:40
A: Are you laughing at me?
D:No, no. You are shining.
Then Azumi showed how much he could shate. Azumi-san started to chase after him, Dai-chan repeated "Scary!" "So scary!." with laugh. Next Dai-chan taught Azumi-san how to jump and they tried ice dance a bit on Azumi-san's request.
Part:5
At the end,
Asked about his future goal, Dai-chan said "I can't think about four years later at all. I'd like to find what I really want to do. I know the supports from a lot of people brought me up to here. So I'd like to find things I can do for the next generation children while I continue my competitive career."
