| Thanks hsuhs. I put it through Google Translate to get a sense of what he wrote until someone has time to translate. He seems to be taking it all in stride, focusing on recovery. Of course, he apologizes for having to miss Cup of China and not being able to show off his programs. He knew how much we were looking forward to seeing them. I don't know if it's just a product of the shoddy translation but he only says he has a swollen knee so I'm thinking that it's just a sprain. Of course we have to wait for confirmation but I am a bit more hopeful that it's not a torn ACL. | |

| swandie, I did the same, and yes that's the way I understood it, too. It's very considerate of Daisuke to post an entry one day before Friday. The major question is, can we exhale now? | |

| Thank you for the heads up, hsuhs Here's the translation. To everyoneHello. Some of you may already know, as a matter of fact, I had my right knee injured when I landed a jump on Oct 31 practice. I had my knee cooled immediately to see how things go towards Cup of China, but swelling didn't go down, I'm afraid I decided to withdraw from Cup of China because it's hard to bring my 100% ability into play in the present situation, compete with unsatisfactory condition. I myself had been looking forward to introduce my new SP and FS in your presense, and it makes me feel regrettable for CoC this time, but I will concentrate on having my body rest in order to get my knee examined by a medical specialist in knee after swelling goes down. I am terribly sorry for everyone who had been looking forward and for my giving the persons concerned trouble. What I can do for the present is to accept this truth decidedly, face the present condition of my own, and spend time carefully day by day with concentrating on treatment, do my best to come back in your sight in a fine state again as soon as possible . I would like to ask you for your cheering from now on too, please. From Daisuke I'm sorry, I so much hurried to translate, could be wrong in some expression. Please feel free to correct if you found mistakes, other Japanese DTFF members, thank you - hsuhs wrote:

I think... we'd better wait until Friday.

| Thanks for translating so quickly, Yshion. He makes it sound less serious than the papers do. Of course, we should hold until Friday but it does give me hope that it won't be the end of his career (or this season). | |

| Thank you for the translation, Yshion! I was impressed by him again. He himself is currently in such tough situation but still he never forgets his fans. I think he wrote this entry for his fans who are worried about him badly these few days. In order to calm them down by speaking sincerely about the situation and his feeling. Thank you so much, Dai-chan! And more, he has already re-collected himself and made a very right decision not being overwhelmed by the regretful feeling. (or he is trying to be so..) I can't be optimistic about his situation by reading this entry. (especially for "accept this truth decidedly" part....)But I think we have to stay calm like Dai-chan and wait for the test result wising him the best of luck. - hsuhs wrote:

| Thank you, Yshion for the translation and thanks so much to Dai for this post. I feel a bit of relief now though it's still early to lean back in the armchair and think calm. I'm waiting for tomorrow impatiantly like everyone here. | |

| Thank you, Dai-chan, for the message, and thank you, Yshion, for translating it! Dai seems to be taking his injury quite "wisely", but I think it's what every athlete who gets injured has to do. As I said already, all I hope is that he takes enough time to recover properly and completey - the landing knee is not something to "play with". - Yshion wrote:

Don't worry, Dai-chan, we support you now more than ever! (at least I do...)

I know Daisuke is facing this bad situation and he doesn't get disheartened. GO DAISUKE! We're always supporting you!

| Daisuke is always so very considerate towards his fans. How very kind of him to write when he probably is worrying about his situation. I'm nervous about tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get good news! *fingers crossed* As for support - I don't think he needs to worry about it! | |

| Hi Euphoria. I feel the same as you.. Still no news here. (9:50pm Japan time) I'm afraid it will be tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Or it might be next Monday. We have to be patient and wait.... (even though it means we are going to have a very stressful weekend. ) I wish you the best of luck, Dai-chan!!! | |

| Italian tv is broadcasting CoC and it's very sad to watch this competition without Dai-chan. I sent an email to the tv commentator asking for news about Daisuke but there's nothing new... We can only wait... | |

| I think it makes sense that there is no news at this point. The reporters definitely didn't accompany Dai to the doctor *laughs nervously*. I'm restless but of course I have to be patient and wait until Dai feels it's the right time to make an announcement. I do hope it's soon but Dai should do what's best for him. I've tried to prepare myself for the possibility of him missing the season or absolute worst case ever, retirement and I found that I can't do it. Retirement would absolutely devastate me. I'm feeling optimistic though that he will make a triumphant debut at Japanese nationals. Even if it's just a strain or sprain, I highly doubt that he will make NHK. - glorydave wrote:

If it wasn't for Tomas Verner, Stephen Carriere, and Jeremy Abbott, I don't think I would have been able to watch at all.

| I had been thinking why medias didn't report anything yesterday, and my guess finally came to 1. Daisuke's knee is still swollen, couldn't get a medical checkup yesterday. 2. He's already got a medical checkup, but still needs more detailed checks to be done. 3. The result is already out, and JSF is waiting for the right timing to announce for NHK Trophy. Anyway, I'm sure I'm ready for waiting even a week more, wishing him good luck | |

| I don't think Dai-chan would retire. He is strong and he has already gone through many harder things in his life. I think that the worst thing that could happen is that he misses a season, but I don't really think so. Even if he does, I think that the next season won't be any worse. I mean, Nobunari is fine, right? Ofcourse we want to see Dai-chan in NHK, but it is his decision. [/img] | |

| Thank you for the post, na1129 I feel awkward to say, but...Nishida-san actually doesn't say she heard "pain stopped"...she was told by someone (not official, I think) "pain and swelling seem to be getting subsided". She doesn't know the result of the checkup yet and says she intends to keep hopes and believe Daisuke's recovery. It might be a good sign and I'm also glad he seems to be feeling less pain. I wait for an official announcement. However, thank you, na1129 | |
