The day before his disappearance, he had gone out with a friend or something, and Utako had received a cheerful and upbeat e-mail from him. The next day, he suddenly disappeared... I think she was completely surprised.

He told, after disappearing he didn't know where to go and went to a hotel in Shinjuku area, but was rejected. He said it was probably because he looked suspicious. The Keio Plaza was often the official hotel for the competitions, so maybe his familiarity with the area naturally led him there...
He also said that he had bought a lot of clothes on impulse during his disappearance, but he didn't feel like wearing the clothes he bought in such a mental state, even afterwards. I guess he was trying to rebuild his mind somehow.

Utako-sensei's house, where Daisuke returned after his disappearance, is not exactly a boarding house. He was already living on his own at that time. But the fact that he was inside while the teacher was away shows that he still had the key. So the relationship was "you can come over anytime" even when she left home.
At that time, he was living alone as a temporary residence to go to rehab, so he must have left some of his belongings at Utako sensei's house. He went back to her house instead of his room in Kyoto .... Probably because he wanted her to help him.

---Please tell us about your impressions of ice dancing after training in the U.S. since February 2008.

D： My honest impression is that it's so different from single skating (laughs). I'm still a little confused. It's not just a matter of leaning deep in one step [edge?]. You have to be conscious of your body's inclination as well as your edges, so that you don't blow the ice or make noise.

Even on the rink, there are so many things to think about: you can't be out of the middle, you have to match the beat, you can't be out of tune, you have to count the seconds of the lift, and so on.

Positioning is also difficult because it's important for both of us to look beautiful. At first I was afraid of skating too close, and Coach Marina Zueva told me, "Closer, closer! I'm going to hear that for the rest of my life (laughs).

Now I finally get used to it. But if I'm not careful, my habits from single skating times come out. For example, the way I extend my legs when I kick them. It's a level that's normally considered beautiful for a single, but Marina says to me, "Stretch it out more!

I thought it would be the same as figure skating, but it's 100 times harder than I imagined (laughs).

---But it's rewarding, isn't it?

D: It makes me very happy to feel captivated. When I'm really into it, we look like one body even though we're skating side by side. I'm really happy when I can do that. We're still working on one thing at a time, so we haven't done much yet (laughs).

--- What are some of the challenges you have to overcome in order to step up to the next level?

D : There are only challenges! But in terms of skating, I was one of the top skaters in the world, so I think it's not impossible to skate, but it's difficult to connect before and after lifts and spins. How do you make these two things, which are the biggest part of the show, look smooth? The only way to do that is to practice again and again. I think the more I practice, the more I will improve in the details, so I just have to keep practicing.

---You are a legend in the singles world, but you are opening the door to a new world, aren't you?

D: I'm a chicken in the ice dance world (laughs).

----Now that you are an ice dance couple, what do you think of the "real" Takahashi?

Muramoto: When I was a single dancer, we both used to train at the ice arena of Kansai University, and Dai-chan was like a person on top of the clouds. Because of the age difference, we didn't have much of a chance to talk, so at that time we just said hello. But now that I'm spending more time with him, he's so friendly and kind. I don't know, it's just so relaxing.

D: We're both Pisces, born in March. We're both the youngest [siblings], and we're both selfish (laughs), so we have some similarities.

---Do you sometimes quarrel with each other?

K: I don't think we quarrel. We express our opinions to each other and have discussions, but we don't fight at all.

D: No!

K: But Dai-chan is really [engl.] "You have the big heart." I don't know how to put it in Japanese.

--Are you patient?

D: No, I'm not patient (laughs).

-- You promptly deny it  (laughs). I guess it's closer to the meaning of having a broad heart and warmth.

K: Yes, [engl.] big heart!
