Beautiful photos! I would be curious to know where they were taken. On an eastern coast in any case, with mountains and a beautiful sea view. Lovely place
I really hope that this new year will little by little bring back to all of us what we love and need, to be carefree together, to meet and visit each other, party, make music, travel, enjoy art, concerts and performances, or to perform and delight an audience ourselves. And of course, may it bring opportunities for KanaDai to perform in front of audiences often, for their own joy and our delight! Bold wishes from today's view, I know.... but let's not give up hope.
Here is a short conversation of Kana & Dai in car after finishing Nats, subtitled in English

Thank you, Pattina, for starting a new thread and to Sonabilis for the reminder. Your combined contributions, along with Shyla's, are much appreciated! I think we'd all be lost without you.

Beautifully said, sonabilis! I hope you all will continue to keep this Fan Forum as wonderful as it is. As Dancergirl said, we'd be lost without you. Thank you
As for Dai & Kana - they have been one of a few bright spots in this horrible year. The hope of seeing Dai as a dancer really brightened my thoughts. And oh, boy they have not disappointed, have they
The enormous work Dai's done - who better then we, fans could see and marvel at? I wanted to scream, like Utako sensei, "Is he lifting her on one leg?!!" And that stationary lift?? Many experienced dancers would have problems with this.
The programs are wonderful. RD so delightful and fun, FD - breathtakingly beautiful, and Ex - charming and touching. Can't wait to see more of them!
Thank you Dai and Kana! Please, continue to amaze us next year!

Quadruple Axel has published its new issue. Besides KanaDai being on the cover, it contains a special about them, including an interview with Ms. Zueva. Since we'll probably never get to read the original, here's a summary by a fan in tweets. Thanks to @sk8d3 for posting and to nobu for retweeting! Source
Translation (DeepL):
1 The interview with Zueva-sensei is huge! There are so many things I wanted to know. She talked about Kanadai's training project, remote teaching, her impressions of them and how she sees their qualities.... In all of them, it was clear how much Ms. Zueva has fallen in love with Daisuke.
2 There's no need to say anything negative in a place where you're promoting your student, and Russian coaches are always supporting their students as best they can. I can see why she has high expectations for Kanadai, given the lack of top-class dancers on the team right now... but that was still very passionate, Zueva-sensei. Thank you very much! I'm happy you're working with them!
3 Ms Zueva asserted, "This is the story of Daisuke becoming an ice dancer. How can we develop him? How to make the most of his charm. That's the core of the story." ...At this point, it's completely different from the "common sense" view of ice dancing that I've heard so much about. She doesn't seem to think the woman should be made to stand out and refrains from doing so.
4 I think it's because she has faith in Kana-chan. Even if Daisuke shines in his own way, it doesn't make Kana any less beautiful. In fact, she says that it brings out her beauty even more. When I actually watched the performance, their personalities didn't fight each other at all.
5 Daisuke was a beginner and had to start from zero, but Kana-chan... Chris and Daisuke's body types are too different, so she had to rewrite all her perceptions. It was also from blanks. But in the match, they finished up to a quality that you didn't feel that. It was amazing.
6 Zueva-sensei gave Daisuke a super high evaluation from her first impression of him. She said she felt his expressive power in the richness of his facial expressions. I remember a long time ago, I think it was an esthetician in Hawaii. I remembered her praising Daisuke's facial muscles. Even with a mask on, his eyes alone have so much expression.
7 Ms. Zueva also mentioned Daisuke's specific strengths, from his skating technique to his expressiveness and body balance. She said he has the skills to support his excellent expression. This is a very reassuring endorsement from someone who has trained some of the best ice dancers in the world. She also likes his face.
8 Both Ms. Zueva and Mr. Scali spoke highly of Daisuke's use of knees. Utako-sensei also mentioned his skill in using his knees. It's something that's innate, but it's also something that she's been teaching him very carefully. I'm really happy that Zueva-sensei and the others appreciated it.
9 I also learned about Daisuke's quickness and diligence. She was surprised and said that she really enjoyed the lessons with them. All the coaches and choreographers Daisuke has worked with have said the same thing. I'm really happy when people say, "I enjoy teaching." I think that's the best evaluation.

Brand new, uploaded today Kana/Dai talk to fans as preview of the upcoming skating event (available on line). Kana wears glasses with webcam in order to give audience her own point of view.
Here is the article, with the same video and 2 pictures. At the end of the article, the link to purchase the ticket and view in streaming the talk event of 11/01 (sorry, I don't know if purchase is available also overseas)
"Sky Court presents Kana Muramoto / Daisuke Takahashi 2021 First Slip Special! ], The state of the two people's first slip in 2021 will be delivered on "Streaming +". Various projects are planned for this distribution, such as a talk corner and the announcement of the logo of the Kana Muramoto / Daisuke Takahashi pair. In the video from Kana Muramoto's eyes, you can enjoy a simulated experience as if you were skiing an ice dance with Daisuke Takahashi.
Social account Olympic (Inspiring people through the Olympic values of friendship, respect, and excellence) dedicated a post to Dai-chan and his Vancouver "La Strada"
The video was reposted by Jackie Wong on Twitter - with the comment by Jimmy Ma (young US skater)

OMG yes Shyla, I sat watching TV News and couldn't believe it. So disgusting and terrible! I sincerely hope things will get better soon and your country can recover from this disaster. These dangerous movements also exist in Europe, and we must be equally vigilant.

Like sonabilis, I'm worried because Europe too hosts these dangerous groups. Let's pray for US people and all the world.

Today is the anniversary of KanaDai's very first performance at "Ice Explosion"! It feels like a hundred years have passed... Dai looked like a newborn baby then, so cute and clueless And yet, in its seed, everything was already there, chemistry, charisma, expression.... When I watched the two on the ice back then, all worries were gone that Dai might lose some of his magic, or his contact with audience might suffer. ilica wrote at some point "I don't know something about them together seems right ". She proved right
Yeah it's striking how happy Dai-chan looks. Seems he found a "new dream" ... or did the dream find him? Whatever will become of their competitive ambitions, they are already special. It's nice to see how they benefit from each other. Kana has actually immersed in "Dai-chan's world" and obviously is highly inspired. Dai is about to conquer a wonderful new world that is worth every effort, and in true Dai-chan fashion, he immediately infuses it with his style and essence.
On Fuji BS, apparently a Nats special was aired today. Including a lot of backstage footage of KanaDai, the fans are posting screenshots right now. Maybe we even will get some videos later...
(In fact, it was reported, after KanaDai's accident, Team KoKo immediately stopped their practice and offered help. Kana and Dai later expressed their sincere thanks.)

While waiting for info from the "Kana Muramoto and DaisukeTakahashi 2021 First Skate Special" (the streaming is a pay-event, but let's hope to have at least translations of the talk and screenshots), here we have a tv service about Dai's switching to Ice Dance.
Apologize, I don't know when and which tv aired it. Nothing really new, but it's really lovely to watch the little kid (00:24) becoming an ice dancer. Like Marina says "Talent is talent!"

Obviously, meowmix is working on a step/element analysis of KanaDai's RD. In a comment, she complains about damaged data and says this clip is from an old backup. Too bad, I hope she can recover it. I'm always impressed with her work.

Here comes a little experiment. The Japanese fans always accompany TV shows with cascades of tweet comments. You can tell a little bit from them what it's all about. That's what they did with today's special "Hope you enjoy it" as well. So I sent a series of Tweets through the translator, and here is the result (They also describe the new logo )
Tweets on "Hope you enjoy it":

I seriously think that the ice show under Corona has the potential that only the accompanying camera can deliver. It was really great. I became aware of how hungry I am for their skating.

Dai has completed his second architectural project with Skycourt (watch out, couraged use of colors!) and presents it, stunningly charming as always. The whole quarter-hour chat is a delight, even if you only understand about four words of it. From 7:00 min on he answers a few questions about the new apartment and ice dancing.
Dai seems to have given several interviews, because there are different questions here, and still others here.
Translation kiji:
(via DeepL) It's an explosion of Dai-chan's world. Daisuke Takahashi (34, KFSC, Kwansei Gakuin University), a figure skater and ice dancer, completed the renovation of the apartment, which he has been working on in parallel with his competitions. He unveiled for the first time an eccentric design that reminds us of his creative expression on the ice. In an exclusive interview with this newspaper, Dai-chan, who fascinates us with his own worldview both on the ice and in architecture, confessed his "philosophy" as an expressive person. He also talked about his future vision as an "architect skater" in 10 years.
--I've never seen such an eccentric room!
Takahashi: Thank you very much! This time, I asked "Can I do whatever I want? and they said, "By all means! (laughs). I put a lot of effort into the colors. The ceiling and walls are blue and the floor is pink. I walked into the finished room with trepidation, but surprisingly it didn't feel overwhelming. This challenge gave me a sense of possibility that I can go further! I felt there was a lot of potential.
--What is the name of the room?
Takahashi: I don't know. It's difficult... that's it! How about a modern version of the "Blue Cave"? It's an atmosphere that's hard to experience. In fact, when you enter the room in the evening, you really feel like you're in a cave. I wonder how the people who live here feel about it (laughs).
--What were the main points you were particular about?
Takahashi: The big thing is the shower booth. We purposely eliminated the bathtub and installed the latest shower unit. I didn't want to use curves in the details, so the doorknobs and towel rails were square and straight. It was hard to find, so we had a hard time until the latter half of the project.
--What do skating and renovation have in common in terms of "expression"?
Takahashi: They may be the exact opposite. I feel that skating is "passive" and renovation is "aggressive". When I skate, I express myself as I feel at the moment. I don't want to be the same "me" if I show too much of myself. I think about how I'm perceived by the people around me, and put that out there, in the world view created by the choreographer. I feel that this way I can create a new me. On the other hand, in the renovation, I'm looking forward to showing myself and seeing how people accept me.
--How would you describe this room in terms of skating?
Takahashi: It's like an exhibition, a show number after retirement. Anyway, I'm going to attack by doing what I want to do.
--How do you feel when you are immersed in it?
Takahashi: When I'm in a single, my vision becomes very wide. Normally, the audience around me looks like scenery, but when I'm really immersed, I can clearly see the faces of each audience member and hear the sound of my own edge. I can also see the movements of the judges. It's a feeling that can only happen when everything falls into place.
--In ice dancing
Takahashi: It's the opposite. When it's good, only Kana-chan's (Kana Muramoto) face is in focus, and the surroundings are blurred. But I can sense the atmosphere around me. When I'm in this zone, I can give a good performance. I'm not 100% yet, but the rhythm dance at the All-Japan Championships was close to that feeling.
--Mr. Takahashi is a skater and an artist. What were your grades in art when you were in school?
Takahashi: I've always liked arts and crafts, so I think I got a "4" in art on a scale of 5. I also liked music, so my grades were better than in the other five subjects, and I was more excited in class. But I'm not very good at drawing. I should have studied harder.
--What is your next challenge?
Takahashi: I have many. If it turns into something, I'd like to try my hand at a house first. Then, I'd like to try a 3-bedroom apartment or a store interior. For a bigger dream, I would like to buy a small building in the future and design everything from the rooms to the roof. If I had the money, that is... (laughs).
--Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Takahashi: 44 years old.... That's a bit of a stretch, but I'd still like to be skating. I'd like to create a world view as an actor on an entertainment stage, and I hope there will be a place where I can do that when I'm 50. I may also choose to become a teacher after gaining more experience and study. In any case, I want to be active in a wide range of fields and always be busy. This time, I was blessed by the people around me. So, I'm going to cherish those "fates".
It is unusual for an active athlete to be so active in the category of architecture.
In January 2019, he designed an entire 13-story condominium building in Asakusa, Tokyo, in collaboration with Sky Court Corporation, a pioneer in condominium management. The project was so popular that applications poured in right from the start of sales.
This is the second renovation project of the "D-color Project". Last year, when he switched to ice dancing, he and his partner Kana Muramoto (27, KFSC, Kansai University) spent about a year developing the project, holding meetings remotely in between their training in Florida. It's a unique "double-edged sword," but Takahashi sees it as a plus, "It's been a good break from the stress of skating.
The only room in the world with a novelty and eccentricity that even experts are impressed with, applications for this room will start on the 15th! For more details, please visit the Sky Court website, "D-color Sales Property Special Site".
Translation seventietwo:
(via DeepL) The second phase of the D-color Project, a collaboration with Sky Court in which ice dancer Daisuke Takahashi coordinates an entire new condominium building, is finally complete. In this interview, Daisuke Takahashi talks about the design theme of the completed condominium, his "base" and "Corona Peril," as well as his hopes for this year.
SEVENTIE TWO (SV): You moved your base to the United States last year. How did you maintain your motivation in an environment where you couldn't practice as much as you wanted due to the Corona disaster? Daisuke TAKAHASHI: I moved my base to Florida in the U.S., but since it was my first time to do ice dance, it was quite difficult to learn the basics without a coach. Even just last year, there were so many new things to learn and so much information, it was very difficult for me to digest it and modify my body. But the daily joy of being able to do what I couldn't do was great, and I was able to make my debut despite the time constraints. As I worked with Kana Muramoto, time was running out, and without any time to think about anything, my motivation grew on its own (laughs). Kana herself has experience in ice dance, so she taught me what I didn't know and led me along. We discussed how to make it better, and deepened our communication. We were able to feel that we could do it, and this was the year that led to the next. If I had to give it a score, I would give it 90.
SV: In the Corona disaster, you must have reconfirmed the importance of "base" and "home". What do you think about "base" and "home" for Daisuke Takahashi? Takahashi:I believe that a home is the best place for an athlete to heal, and it is important to have a space where you can rest and relax after a hard day of training. Resting is also very important, and I have always thought of relaxing at home as my first priority. That's why I can't go outside very often due to the Corona disaster, but for me it's not so different from the past (laughs). I think the thing that gives me the most peace of mind is a place to live. I'm sure that many people have shifted their thinking to how to have fun in their living space under these circumstances. It's not easy to go outside because of the Corona disaster, but it might be a good idea to change your way of thinking about how to enjoy the time you spend at home.
SV: What is the concept of the second D-color project? Mr. Takahashi:When I produced the last condominium building, I tried to create a room that would be accepted by various people, but this time I decided to do what I wanted to do myself. It may look gaudy, but it is surprisingly easy to put together when combined with other colors. I think the room is easy to play with because it easily accepts various colors such as photos, objects, and paintings. I would like to encourage residents to decorate the room with all kinds of things. I think it's a great room that looks great on Instagram (laughs) and also looks great when working remotely.
SV: What are your ambitions for this year? Mr. Takahashi:I want to become the All-Japan Champion. It is an absolute requirement to go to the Beijing Olympics, so getting on the center of the podium is my ambition and my biggest goal.
"Mezamashi" from 15 January morning, thanks izayukam!
