Thanks for all the updates Pattina. I am so nervous for Kana and Dai. Knowing that coach Nagamitsu and Hamada is with them is a plus for them and calms my nerves a bit. I have my fingers crossed that they will win Nationals and make the Olympic team, that is a lot of pressure on them, but if not I will be disappointed but will accept.

thanks Pattina for all the updates! Their appearance at drawing... boy what an aura! Not to mention Dai's outfit, at the edge between classy, dandy and wild
For the chronicle, yesterday's RD practice run through, almost complete (they did the lift separately) Wow they seem in good shape. Sharp movements, even more polished and clear, compared to NHK and Warsaw
Btw in today's (12/23) morning practice they wore the white costumes, and now fans are wondering
I have to say, I'm surprisingly calm. Maybe the nervousness will come... Certainly, unexpected things can happen, but at the moment it looks pretty good, I think. But no matter how it turns out, KanaDai have already won on one point: Their stunning growth in barely two years is a victory in itself. Dai's transformation into an ice dancer, his incredible super-evolution, the miracle they've pulled off as a team.
In case there will be no Beijing '22 for them, it will be something else. The main thing is that they stay healthy and we can enjoy as much of this miracle as possible!

SPOILER - Unfortunately the RD did not go well Dai fell in the mid of Step Seq. bringing down Kana with him so they were counted minus 2 for fall. Overall GOE were not high. Of course their PCS were up and this compensated a bit, but it will be hard to recover the gap with KoKo.
Kansai university magazine published KanaDai's interview almost verbatim, as it often does. They, of course, talk about the fall and analyze what had happened. Unsurprisingly it was nervousness that affected their "reading" of each other. Dai said that after the recent successes, he was ambitious and wanted to do even better.
----Reading this, I thought, wasn't that always kind of Dai's Nemesis? - - being in good position and lose balance due to excessive pressure of expectation....
Tomorrow they plan to skate to their own satisfaction and not worry about results. May it succeed!

Now it is what it is. KanaDai got silver at the Nationals by a narrow margin. Congrats to Team KoKo, who showed a great performance! Especially I really like their FD.
And congrats to KanaDai for winning the FD and for the fighting spirit they came back with after that bad luck at RD! Deep admiration for their graceful attitude in defeat, the smile and friendly cheerful words. After a few years of being a fan, I too know Dai's body language a bit and the different ways he smiles. This one was painful--
And also - not to forget - admiration for the wonderful balanced relationship of the two. Kana seems to have nerves of steel, and an incredible amount of positive energy.
The decision on who will go to Olympics will be made tomorrow (26th) after the end of the men's FS. The JSF will have a hard time I guess...
I sincerely wish for KanaDai the right decision (and honestly, I'm ambivalent on what may be right/beneficial for them given the circumstances). But most of all I wish that we can see the two of them often, unfolding their huge potential more and more.

I have to say that after a short breath I am really glad, reassured, even relieved. Sending them to the Olympics would have caused a lot of fuss and controversy. It would've built up enormous pressure to justify, on top of the already high expectations. This constellation could have had a bad effect on Dai's mental strength. He's vulnerable on this point, we've just seen it again.
They can achieve a lot at both the 4CC and the Worlds. Break Japanese records in ranking. Score higher than their competitors ever could. Earn 2 spots for next season. I look forward to more unforgettable KanaDai performances!

Yes sonablis I have to agree with you. They don't need any negative pressure.
Very happy for them about being selected for 4CC's and Worlds. Now we have to keep fingers and toes crossed these 2 competitions will go froward.

I always wondered why KanaDai's first RD "The Mask" could only be choreographed as late as September 2020. After all, Estero rink reopened about the end of June. Now the reason has been revealed, and it's shocking. Shortly after resuming the practice, Dai broke a rib while working on a lift! He returned about a month later, but their bad luck continued. Kana fell while searching for a spin that suits them. Because of a concussion, she too had to take a month off. So they missed two more months of practice and it was September, when the RD was finished. If I calculate in my head the times they really had with their coaches in Estero in 2020, I come up with about 4 months. Four. Months.

Hi everyone!! Apologize, I was not at home in these Christmas days (visiting relatives and friends in my native town). I could not watch but only follow the results and - seldom - catch up with tweets from KanaDai fan world. I returned home yesterday evening and now, before starting work, I can catch up with videos and photo.

I'm really really sorry KanaDai did not get the Oly spot they wished so much and fought to conquer, but they did not disappoint me. It was just bad luck, treacherous ice. Nothing to blame Dai on. It happened. The beauty of their skating is untouched.
I'm sure that - Covid permitting and let's keep fingers crossed from now on!! - they will shine at 4CC and Worlds Many people will watch these 2 incredible programs in all their beauty. Audience will cheer and applaude and stand up!!
