| Thanks Pattina for "Academy Night" video. I love that show! That would be me at 2:28 in the video if I ever met Dai in person. I would be so overcome with emotions that I would not be able to speak. lol Ilica no need to apologize. My comment was not made as a criticism just an observation. I've read a couple of articles in US on-line newspapers, which probably rely on info by LOTF production. They underline how the show premiered in Japan in 2016 with 10 shows and it was all sold out. Unfortunately they completely skipped Dai's name!!
Of course, I'm not saying Cheryl and the rest of cast are not worth seeing and indeed I think the show was great!! but we know well that main reason of sold-out shows was Dai-chan.
Of course, I'm well aware that Daisuke is unknown in the US to dance-fans, while Meryl and Charlie are stars because of their appearance in DWTS. But I really don't like the way they "cancelled" him and not recognized his huge contribution to the success of the show in Japan, last year and this year also. - Shyla wrote:

Dai's star power that made that happen in Japan. That said I wish the tour the best of luck and success. A few of the other DWTS pros had their own "spin-off" productions as well (Maks and Val Chmerkovskiy, Derek Hough). Does anyone know how their tours have been going? If they're going to estimate the success of LOTF in the US, they will likely measure it against those. I think Charlie and especially Meryl might have more of a pull as main attraction in a dance show with affiliations to DWTS than as cast members of an ice show. DWTS has a wide audience, is (or at least was) very popular and Meryl gained many new fans through the show, because she was sensational on it! Add Charlie, Cheryl and several "So you think you can dance?" alumni to the mix and they could have a relative winner on their hands, if they promote the show properly. Of course they also have quite a bit of competition, because there are many dance shows in the US. It's a completely different sales strategy than in Japan (where Dai obviously is the main draw) with DWTS being the central selling point. And these seem to be pretty intimate theatres, so it should be possible to (nearly) sell them out. With or without Dai, like you Shyla, I wish them success!  It is Cheryl's dream project, she has developed this over many years and put all of her heart, as well as hard work and sweat in it. I still wish Dai could have done the US tour as well as he was such an integral part of the original version - and presumably will be even more so in the upcoming shows. He's the guide, the helping hand, lover, friend and savior. He kinda held the narration together showing the whole range of emotions relationships go through in their various stages. I know I'm biased, but I honestly think the emotional gravitas he has is inimitable. I just rewatched his "Hometown Glory" solo and am in tears now... The first two times my tongue was in knots and I wasn't able to look into his eyes. I suppose that's what being a socially awkward person does to you. Unfortunately it gets worse around people I admire. My impression is that Dai needs a little reassurance to come out of his shell too. Having "2000 Days" with me for him to sign was some sort of ice-breaker the first time I met him in 2015 I think. He was SO excited I had the book and asked me, if I'm able to read it and even then with his encouragement I could hardly speak... Then I was trembling all over when I stood right next to him to have my picture taken with him. It was awful! Of course being a complete scatterbrain in that situation, I had to make things worse by forgetting to select the correct setting on my camera and as a result the flash was disabled, so we had to repeat this three more times until I got it right. I felt extremely embarrassed! (And Dai kept asking, if the picture didn't turn out right...he was so cute.  ) This is the wrong thread to ask I guess, but are you going to "Golden Moments", Shyla? If I remember correctly you mentioned you'd like to go? I hope you can make it and maybe even meet Dai there (and hopefully be less awkward than me in his presence  )! More fantastic fan-art! Of course, I, too, wish Cheryl "break a leg" with LOTF US TOUR. She deserves it. Without Cheryl and her project, probably "dancing Dai" would have remained a dream in fans' minds for a long time. Quite agree!! I'm really curious.... for sure they have talented dancers but.... Dai danced with his heart and soul, with his body and emotional expressions. I still remember, in the documentary, when he recorded the video as background of his solo number/s. Just his face in close-up, expressing love, pain, desire, anguish..... a lot of feelings one after another. In the end Cheryl and the two choreographers had wet eyes.
