New update in Dai's official website: a tv special on Hyoen2019 "The story of Genji of the Ice" is scheduled for broadcast on Saturday 18 May - NTV 10:30 JT.

WOW nice to see the finished product of all of Dai's hard work. The apartment is

Great news!! Today JSF has held an official meeting and issued the list of the skaters for next season, divided into groups according to their standings in last seasons.

Thanks to his silver medal at Nats, Daisuke has been nominated as one of the 4 special (top) level Men skaters   together with Shoma Uno, Keiji Tanaka and Yuzuru Hanyu.  However he has to confirm if he accepts this assignement.

According to online translations and thanks to info and help I received from our dear Nobu san    JSF manager Kobayashi san reported to press that Daisuke will confirm or not his acceptance (after discussing with his coaches/staff) after the Golden Week.

Today I noticed many fans tweeted pics of Dai and Patrick Chan together. I was wondering and now I understand. Today Number Bunshun has published an interview with Patrick Chan. He talks mainly about his "rivalry" with Hanyu, starting from the defeat at GPF 2013 till the defeat at Sochi 2018.

At the end of the interview, Patrick asks the journalist:

Thanks for the updates Pattina.  I agree with you, Shyla, that Dai did an amazing job with his interior design project.  I loved his idea of having the option to have one large room or two rooms with the sliding doors.

I'm so happy that the JSF has offered him assignments if he wants them.  I'm also glad to hear that Patrick Chan said some lovely things about Dai.

I apologize because I did a mistake some posts ago: the disaster of heavy rains in West Japan occurred last July and not in Winter.  

As posted before, Wed. 01 May a new emperor will take the throne and the new Reiwa Era will start. Everywhere there are articles and tv special about the previous Heisei Era which is going to its end.

Hi Pattina and Shyla.  You don't have to apologize to us about the heavy rains in Japan.  I'm just grateful that you keep the forum alive with so much news.

It's incredible that Dai winning the Olympic medal was mentioned as a highlight for the Heisei era.  What an honour for him.  Dai and his family must be thrilled. Thanks Kokomo and Pattina for letting us know. It made my day!

Daisuke has been a trailblazer for Japanes Men figure skating and he set many records, as the first Japanese Man skater to.....   win an Olympic medal, for instance. So that moment will remain for ever in all sports books.  

The reigning Emperor and Empress will resign tomorrow after 30 years of reign. An online magazine has collected many, many messages of congratulation/celebration for their anniversary, coming from the cultural, academic and sports world.  Among them, there is also Dai's message.  Before Dai's message I found also Shoma Uno and Rika Kihira (I stopped at Dai's message so I cannot tell you if there are other skaters, too, after him   )

Heisei Era ended today and new Reiwa starts. So many fans are tweeting or IG posting pictures/videos of Daisuke as lovely memories of Heisei Era. There are really tons and tons. I'm so glad he can have the chance to shine also in the new Era

Off Topic - but related to Daisuke

One of the many touristic attractions in Kurashiki is a private collection of various items of Showa Era (Emperor Hirohito's reign between 25/12/1926 and 07/01/1989). It was seriously damaged during July flooding, so at first the owner thought it was over. But thanks to support he received and his hard restoration work, now the museum is live again. The white car you see in the picture with the owner was used in the parade for Dai in 2010, when he returned home with Olympic Bronze and Worlds Gold medals.

I totally agree!! I'm sure that, if he is given the chance, Dai will add a great contribution to Hyoen 2019 with his natural artistic sensibility. Adding his personal touch in choreo moves, but also giving suggestions about characters moving on stage, scenic design, etc... I'm sure that he will be glad just being on the stage with Director Miyamoto and looking at him working, so to assimilate ideas and concepts to develope later, in his own future projects.

New talk show for Dai-chan. Sunday 16 June in Fukuoka as guest of Saibugas. He already attended in 2017 (if I remember right), What I remember for sure is that the Saibugas manager who hosted  the talk show was (and most probably he will be the same this year) Dai's mate at the Kansai Uni and he revealed some funny facts or memories of those old times.
