I couldn't wait to see Mambo in Krone costume!

Nothing like to start your weekend with Mambo steps

Thanks for answering my question about Dai’s parents, Pattina.  I agree that Dai’s costume at MOI must have been distracting (for him) during the Mambo.  I was looking forward to seeing him do the Mambo number, in his Krone costume, just like Ilica.  There are so many movements I love about his Mambo but one of my favourites is when he does a hip roll, and it looks like he’s on his toes, but you can’t see it clearly because of the costume. You can see it clearly towards the end of Misha’s rehearsal clip.

To give you a bit of perspective on the difficulty of his Mambo number the reason I’m sure his costume was distracting is because in my dance classes I’ve occasionally been distracted by minor mishaps like one of my shoe laces coming undone and that’s all I’m thinking about as I’m dancing and hoping I’m not going to trip over it.  I’m certain that’s what happened to Dai when he messed up just slightly.  It doesn't take away from the fact that it's amazing that he's moving to the music the way he did when he first performed it years ago.  Not to mention he had just skated to Krone but still had the energy to pull off the Mambo.  I have such huge respect and admiration for his ability to move the way he does, on ice, like no other.

I watched his MOI performance many times so thanks for providing the link.  I could watch him all day!

The sexiest move ever in a competitive program!!!! But for sure it is sexy because Dai is sexy. To be honest, I'd laugh a lot watching - for instance - Shoma or Patrick Chan or Hanyu or Kolyada or other male skaters doing it and posing sexy.

Dai's secret: it's a natural instinct for him. Dai is sexy when he wants to, and at the same time in Mambo he is joyful and playful, inviting audience to have some "funny sexy time" with him.

Shyla, so glad you had "extended family" all around you in these days. For sure it has been a stressing time but love and joy will warm your heart for many many days to come.

Thanks for the link to the podcast, Pattina.  I enjoyed hearing Benoit Richaud’s thoughts about working with Dai.  Huge thanks to Flapper-Dai who has such interesting and helpful posts. I always enjoy seeing Dai and Shoma together because it's guaranteed to bring a smile.

Well I am anxiously waiting for Dai to reveal his plans. I wonder if he will do any of the upcoming ice shows or just focus on his training. I will have to be patient because he said after Nationals he does not have a plan yet but you know Dai he likes to have a plan. lol

I hope he is having rest and relaxation, he certainly deserves a Holiday.

At the end of this week the Sky-court presentation for the re-newed building is scheduled and we'll have some fresh report/pics of Dai-chan (I hope) since J Nats, at last!! because I'm already Dai-starving!! I loved seeing Dai’s practice.  He looks incredible.  I also enjoyed seeing the TV announcers holding up the various newspapers that covered Dai at the Nationals.  I can’t understand what they’re saying but I’m sure it was positive.  I appreciated seeing most people in Japan rallying around Dai like they used to.  I would’ve loved to have read the interview with Dai’s mom and know her true thoughts.

I agree about Dai’s movements, Pattina.  The way he extends his leg so straight as he bends his knee so deeply is like poetry in motion.  Every movement is deliberate but so smooth and natural and only Dai can make it appear that way.

D-color has updated the blog today with Step 14-2 (please note, it's an on-line translation!!). : a thank-you message for all who had followed them in preparation of tomorrow's celebration for 50th anniversary of Sky Court foundation. They promise they will do all the best to report on the website about the meeting tomorrow in the evening.   Dai's pic was taken on 27/08/2018, during the last meeting they had with Dai at their head-office and they talked about his mental state at the time (my comment: he is very blond, so we can assume he was stressed/under pressure...)

Only 17 days have passed since Dai's last public appearance (MOI on 25/12/2018) but it's enough to let me almost Dai-starving. It seems months for me....   Probably tomorrow we will have new
pics together with report. Hope he really rested in this time, physically and mentally, gathering new strength for new plans.
