Me too, swandie! And I really like your suggestions. I especially wonder what he and Morosov will come up with to follow "Techno Swan" which has had such enormous popularity and appreciation from skating fans this year. - Quote :
- I wish they would have cleaned/smoothed over the ice everyone was falling all over the place.
Wow, hopefully this was not too much of an issue for many of the skaters. The top three medalists didn't fall though.

Hmm, I'm already wondering what programs Daisuke and Morosov will come up with for next year. Got any ideas or suggestions anyone? I would like to see Daisuke skating to some kind of Japanese music. I think it could be very interesting. For example Ryuichi Sakomoto’s “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” beautiful melody suit perfect to Dai-chan’s soft style of skating. What do you think about it?

I think it's a beautiful piece of music, Salamandra. I too would love to see Daisuke skate to it. Here it is on youtube: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YwkuS9FlB7MI'm afraid though, that Nikolai might be having very different ideas reg next season's music. I see him using something by Tchaikovsky, or another well-known piece, like 'Dark eyes'. Morozov's known for having a certain taste in music.

Commentators on Russian Eurosport during Daisuke’s LP said that this music not suit him and don’t help him skate. I have the same opinion. It would be better if Nikolai just ask Tomas Verner to lend his CD with music from his LP than another Tchaikovsky

| Oh wow, thank you very much for your suggestion, Salamandra! This music really is truly wonderful! It's beautiful, emotional, and powerful which could all suit Daisuke's style. And thank you hsuhs for the link! - Quote :

you both. How about we send a cd of songs from Ryuichi Sakomoto to Morosov?

Oh wow, I would love for this to happen very much. And we already know that Daisuke has good taste in music right (for example "Nocturne" that he chose and choreographed for himself).

| Ryuichi Sakomoto’s “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” is really beautiful: melody, tempo, different kinds of music instruments playin g alone or together... I think that too many skaters choose the same musics. And I begin to hate Carmen and so on... there are wonderful classical music and modern composers able to create nice tunes. | |

| OK, now that we have found some good and tasteful music for Daisuke's free , may I suggest a piece for his short program? Here it is, it's Gustavo Santaolalla's 'The Wings': http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1yIDt97zQgYBut it has to be arranged in a way that is suitable for figure skating, first. NB: As far as I know, no one in FS has used this soundtrack yet. | |

Dark Eyes is a very risky piece because it could easily fall flat (see Virtue and Moir at the Grand Prix Final). I think it's better suited for a ladies skater anyway (although I don't think it would work for Miki either). Whether Morozov realizes it or not, Dai's hip hop short program has set a precedent. People are going to expect programs that are just as innovative as that and will be sorely disappointed if Dai comes out with "overused" music for both his programs next season. I know Dai enjoys dancing so I hope that they pick something that shows off his dancing. A side note: Every time I see Morozov, I think of him as the scary version of one of my co-workers!

| Salamandra, Daisuke's "Nocturne" was performed by the group Secret Garden. Here is a link to their information on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Garden_%28duo%29Hsuhs, Gustavo Santaolalla's 'The Wings' (from "Brokeback Mountain") is a very lovely piece of music. I would not have thought of Daisuke skating to something like this originally, but I have an inherent belief that he can make any piece of music work in his performance so he could probably handle this too. - Quote :
- And then how about some techno music? (Because one of my most favorite programs in 2008 Worlds is Kevin van der Perren's FP!)
Wow, I didn't know you liked this program so much, miyu. Your passionate/sultry Latin (even more so than Tango De Roxanne??) and techno suggestions could really be promising. - Quote :

LOLOLOL. What would you do if you saw Morosov in real life, swandie? It seems that as for suggestions, we all agree that Daisuke should use some really unique (non-cliched) but beautiful music that is different from what other skaters normally use. This is a really good and fresh direction for him to go in for next season I think. Now, how do we let him and Morosov know this (or do they know this already?)...

When I read this, I pictured it in my head! Personally, I would love to see Dai do something Latin! His exhibition at last year's worlds was...sexy He could definitely pull off sultry Latin! One thing I do think he will avoid is flamenco because of Stephane's Poeta.

| this may sound really crazy, but im listening to a playlist and one of the most dramatic songs is actually from Final fantasy advent children. (one winged angel) I think that is what its called. Its pretty masculine and has a fast beat. But I dont know, i just wanted to make a suggestion | |

| Hi, candiegurl25. Do you have a sample of the song you mentioned or a link to listen to it? Thanks very much! Edit- Hi, candiegurl25. I just went searching for the song myself on Youtube. Is it the following link? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oDHs1KscDIIf this is the right song, then it is indeed very powerful, dramatic, and cool. It's quite rockish as well. I wonder if Daisuke listens to this kind of music/is aware of it. | |

| I have a new idea of music for Dai-chan. It’s “Un bel dì vedremo” from Puccini’s M. Butterfly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdPMGqRV4uE&feature=relatedI know this music usually choose female skaters but why not? It’s such a wonderful tune. Anyway “Swan lake” also isn’t typical music for male skaters. So, Daisuke only need take Miki Ando’s CD from her Olympic programme (she had SP to Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and FS to M. Butterfly). But I already scary about which music will choose Nikolai. Fantasy of Mr Morozov sometimes is really very limited. | |

| Really? I'm not scared at all...IMO Mr Morozov has a spotless record choreographing for Takahashi. The SP this year is an absolute masterpiece and the LP when skated as well as in 4CC is really powerful! The Bjork exhibition is also fantastic and last season's programs as well! Of course I know that tastes can differ and I hope that I'm not attacking anybody! He does overuse music though, I agree...but so does every other skating choreographer in my opinion! Greetings, Katharina Edited to add: Sorry, as this thread is actually about the music...my point is that the music selections IMO have been really suitable for Daisuke so I don't think that will change in the future! I guess you could say I'm optimistic by nature... | |

| Hi! Whoops, I didn't know that about Bjork...who did the choreography for that? Well, but my point about liking all the other programs still stands Also, original music doesn't always lead to great choreography IMO...I might as well throw in another choreographer to criticize and say that I thought that Lori Nichol's choreography for Carolina Kostner this season was absolutely horrible...despite the somewhat unusual music in the SP! Greetings, Katharina | |

| Bachelorette was choreographed by a Japanese choreographer who's name escapes me. Dai saw a program he had done for another skater (I want to say Yukari but I don't think it was). He liked the style so much that he wanted this particular choreographer to make an exhibition for him. - Salamandra wrote:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdPMGqRV4uE&feature=related I can't picture Dai skating to this particular aria for some reason. Maybe if he did something that was sung by Pinkerton (the American sailor Madame Butterfly was pining after) I could see it. Upon seeing Dai's current hair, I thought he could skate to rock music (not necessarily like Brian Joubert's Apocalyptica Plays Metallica).

The name of that Japanese choreographer is Kenji Miyamoto, he is former Japan's champion in ice dancing. I wish he will choreographe EX programme for Dai-chan in next season because "Bachelorette" is the reason why Daisuke became my favourite skater.

Hi Katharina! I wouldn't say that choreography is horrible. Actually I like Kostner's SP this season despite I'm not her fan at all because it suit well to her incredible speed. So, as you said the tastes can differ And I don't agree that all coaches chose overused music. For exemple, Lambiel always had very original music.
