| Oh my gosh! That is an AMAZINGLY huge score... I'm really shocked and happy for him! I can't wait to watch it on tv! The last time I can remember a skater getting that high a score was Plushenko at the '06 Olympics when he got about 90 points in the short program. Daisuke really must have skated amazing... I hope he keeps this up in the long program and at Worlds. And Evan did a quad-triple... wow! He landed it this time & Daisuke still beat him by several points... that's wild. I'm very excited for the freeskate now... this should be awesome! | |

But I would like to understand how you can obtain a so high score without a quad This is like the question of the day. My theory is that levels played into this a bit. Daisuke may have had higher levels than Evan on his steps and spins. Combining that with some +GOEs on everything (jumps, steps, spins) and the higher components, Daisuke has created a bit of an edge for himself even without the quad in the short program. Might sound crazy but that's just my theory...

| GO DAISUKE!!! I couldn't wait to come back home for watching results on web, but I was a bit nervous... I was sure for a good performance, but this is a wonderful one! Only 2 points under Plushenko best score... and Daisuke didn't the quad... Read this report from ISU site: http://www.isu.org/vsite/vcontent/content/transnews/0,10869,4844-128590-19728-18885-282541-3787-4771-layout160-129898-news-item,00.htmlWOW!!! He had LEVEL 4 in circular step sequence! Also LEVEL 4 for his change foot sit spin and his combination spin! And he's also so kind with the audience: "It’s all about the audience. They make me go faster, they are excited and I’m feeding off their energy". GREAT DAI-CHAN! | |

| Hi, everyone! Thanks so much for all the updates, DTFF members!! Here's Daisuke's SP video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eeivMpd2jcI'm really happy that he got two level four spins and a level four step sequence this time (an improvement from before)! I really like Daisuke's quote from the ISU report that glorydave posted (he also said that he would indeed like to go for two quads on Friday for the LP). Complete quote from Daisuke- - Quote :
- “It’s all about the audience. They make me go faster, they are excited and I’m feeding off their energy. The highlight of the program is the footwork for me, because I feel like a true dancer when I’m doing it. The short program was good for me. For the free skating, I hope to do two quads”, the 21-year-old said.
I especially love the part where he says he feels like a true dancer during the footwork sections. I always believed that the "Swan Lake" program was capable of getting huge scores, but never had I imagined that it would be what it was from yesterday!! Swandie, your theory about Daisuke's high score sounds pretty good to me. There are some other theories out there though like the judges already gave Evan and Jeff incredibly high, PB scores before Daisuke so they couldn't very well give Daisuke a score lower than them especially since Daisuke scored higher than Evan in the Grand Prix Final with both of them having almost the same exact content as last time. Anyways, I wish much good luck and strength to Daisuke for achieving a successful LP on Friday!!

| You're very welcome about the link, swandie. - Quote :
- The Korean fans are very enthusiastic! Daisuke seems to have quite the following there. The audience was behind him the whole time...they cheered for just about every single element.
Yeah, I definitely noticed this too. The Korean fans are really great- they were cheering like they were watching a rock concert or something. When Daisuke was at the 2005 Four Continents event, which was also in South Korea, the fans there were also incredibly supportive and cheered very loudly for Daisuke (and the other skaters as well).

| Thanks a lot everyone for sharing infromations and your opinons with me! Yeah, Korean fans were really great last night!! Thank you, Korean fans!!! I hope they will support Dai-chan with strong enthusiam Friday night again. Dai-chan's performance was fantasitic last night!! His jumps were so easy and stable so I almost took them as parts of dance!! Regarding the theory "why he could get such a high score", I totally agreed with swandie and UMgal. His performance was so fantasitic but honestly speaking I burst into laugh with surprise (sorry ) last night when I saw his score. Higher than JNC's score??? (actually this year JNC wasn't so inflated.) According to GS article, http://www.goldenskate.com/articles/2007/4cc_1.shtml - Quote :
- "His triple flip-triple toeloop earned a GOE of +2.14, his triple Axel a +2.43, and his triple Lutz of a +1.85. All of the Japanese champion's elements received positive GOEs for that matter, including two level 4 spins and an excellent level 4 circular step sequence which drew loud cheers from the audience."
GOE +2.43! It's huge. I've already got excited to see Evan Tosca vs Dai-chan R&J!!!!! GO DAI-CHAN

| Thanks for the info, miyu! That's HUUUUGE GOE for the jumps! Wow. Good he got level 4 for the circular step sequence... it seems that he's made small changes/improvements in both sequences and in the spins. If he keeps up like this, this program could get close to being "the best SP ever performed" at Worlds (oh gosh I hope so!!) - miyu wrote:

The PCS are here, as usual : http://www.isufs.org/results/fc2008/SEG001.HTM - miyu wrote:

They never do until the competition is over. I think it's because the athletes/officials can ask for clarification/changes if something seems wrong. Once the protocols are posted, I think nothing can be changed.
