| I guess Johnny has decided to decline his invite after all....I honestly thought that Evan was going to be the one to decline this time around.
ETA: I'm a little surprised Patrick Chan isn't going either. Maybe he wants to use the time to prepare for his first senior worlds....

| Thank you swandie! It was rather expected. But I was looking forward to seeing an exciting battle between Da-chan, Evan and Johnny so I was bit disappointed to hear the news... Yeah, I think there weren't Chan's name on the list from the beginning. You are right, swandie. He is young, so it is difficult for him to adjust condition twice in a month. I'm impressed how nicely he always looks composed despite of his youthfulness. I can't believe he is only 17 yo!! Don't you think so? | |

| I was rather disappointed to hear Johnny's withdrawn.
He has stated his reasons, but I still think he should go to 4 Continents & try his quad again... if he landed it it would give him more hope for Worlds, more confidence.
Ah well. Hopefully his decision will pay off in Sweden with a world medal.

| miyu, I agree that it's sometimes hard to believe that Patrick Chan is only 17! During the Grand Prix, I thought he was 18. At least we'll have Evan vs. Daisuke-Skate America rematch! I wonder if 2 Americans will make the podium. Stephen Carriere is fantastic and as well as Jeremy Abbott (he won bronze at 4CC last year).
Shatterpoint, I agree that doing 4CC might be good for Johnny and getting the quad consistent in competition. I think he knows what he's doing though. He might be trying to peak at worlds and maybe his coaches think that he might peak too early if he does 4CC.

| The photo on Icenetwork in which Johnny lied on a sofa being cared by his coach after US Nationals FP made me worry about his motivation. He looked so depressed. I hope he can be back in good spirits again untill Worlds. Johnny usually doesn't go to 4CC so it might not be serious thing though.... | |

Johnny usually doesn't go to 4CC so it might not be serious thing though.... I think he was just tired & disappointed about getting silver. I think he'll be fine, he seemed to be okay in the press conference. That's true Swandie, but I don't think one more competition would hurt too much.

| Yu-Na Kim withdraws from Four Continents! Yu-Na had been complaining of hip pain during her training in Toronto. After a medical check-up in Canada, it was discovered she had an injured sacroiliac joint on her left hip. She has to stop for two weeks. | |

| It is a pity for this young skater, I hope she will recover pretty soon. But it can be worse in the future. Hip injures are a real problem for skaters... and how is Daisuke? is he training well? | |

| Poor Yu-Na. I hope her recovery is quick and complete, I would love to see her win Worlds this year.
I also hope Daisuke stays injury free & finishes this season skating his best.
Thanks for the link Miyu!
Could anyone translate the price? I'm thinking about ordering it... though I can't read japanese yet.

| You don't have to be able to read Japanese to figure out the price. I figured it out via currency calculator. The magazine costs 1680 yen (you'll see the yen symbol in front of the number) which is approximately $15.65 USD at the current exchange rate (1 yen is a little less than one cent). Daisuke is becoming quite the cover boy! He's been on the cover of quite a few magazines lately. | |

I'll have to think about it... it'd be great to get magazines with Daisuke on the cover... not sure if he's ever been on the cover of an american skating magazine.

| He hasn't but I would love to see him on the cover of International Figure Skating Magazine some day. Their cover stories are great and it would be nice to read one about Daisuke! | |

| Thanks for the info Miyu!
If it turns out to be true I will be so happy!
I conveniently already have a subscription to IFS too!
But if it isn't true, I'm sure it will be soon, considering how well he's been doing this season. If he wins Worlds I think it's almost guaranteed to happen.

| Hi, thanks everyone for the updates about Four Continents and Daisuke's possible magazine appearance. I'm soooo sad about Yuna too. I'm sure the South Korean fans feel even worse though (so many of them probably want to go to this event just to see her). Most importantly now is that she gets better soon and gets ready for Worlds of course. I also would love the idea of seeing Daisuke on IFS. I think that it would be really well deserved. | |

| More withdrawals: Two Canadian pairs have withdrawn. Langlois and Hay due to illness (They think Annabelle might have a gall stone) and Duhamel and Buntin due to injury (Craig tore his rotator cuff and will need surgery after worlds). Here's an article: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080209&content_id=43568&vkey=ice_newsI'm beginning to feel like this event could be a cursed one....I hope everyone else stays healthy. | |

| Thank you so much for the information and links about 4CC, all. Oh, I'm so sad about Yu-na and Canadian pairs. I hope Daisuke and other competitors are keeping a good condition for 4CC! And thanks, miyu for the good pics of Daisuke. I'm glad to hear that he will be featuring of the IFS magazine. | |
