Daisuke Takahashi won the gold medal at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships on Feb. 15, 2008. In the free skating, Daisuke got the incredible score 175.84 points to finish with career-high points of 264.41 overall for his first Four Continents win. This is the highest mark in the current ISU judging system, ahead of Evgeni Plushenko's 258.33 set at the 2006 Winter Olympics Torino.
After the free skating, Daisuke said "I've never gotten this high score before, so I'm very appreciated to get it. This competition was so nice to me before the Worlds. I was very nervous this time, but I struck a victory pose because of allmost flawless performance when I finished free skating. I have to keep more good condition and have a confidence to myself even though I'll be nervous under the pressure for Worlds 2008."
