The company has been promoting the campaign to support the Olympic athletes and their mothers. Takahashi’s mother, who has supported him working as a barber, gave him message presented as: “after your life as an athlete is over, never forget the treasures you got from all the people and walk your way straight and sincere as a human”, Takahashi responded, “no matter what happened she always said that I worked hard, did it great. I think I will find a lady like her for my wife”, and showed his bashful smile. In the Japan Nationals at the end of the last year he finished in the 5th place due to his right leg injury, but he resumed his on-ice practice on the 2nd. He shared his positive feel of his recovery saying “at this rate I will be able to go in a perfect condition”. He is planning to leave Japan during this month and get the final conditioning done in Moscow, Russia where his Coach Morozov is based in.

Shizuka: This is your 3rd Olympic appearance, isn't it? Is there any difference for you between this time(Sochi) and previous Games(Torino & Vancouver)?
Daisuke: I have a really mixed feeling this time due to  my unsatisfactory result of Japan Nationals. I really feel responsible for the significance to be selected the representive of Japan.
S: Which Olympic Games is the biggest pleasure to be selected for you?
D: Sochi Olympic Games. I didn't keep a good condition during the competition at Japan Nationals and I was so irritated that my competitors kept a good shape. And also, it's hard to see next Olympic Games for me. This is the last time to go to the Olympics. That's the reason why I'm so glad this time.
S: Everytime you participate in the Olympics, do you feel a lot of pressure?
D:Yes, but this time, I will put a lot of pressure on me. Because I don't want everyone to think that it's not me to be selected at all. And I'll put my life on the line this time.
S:You made clear the selection criteria for that, but Japan Nationals is a very special one for us.
D:Exactly, I was really dissapointed that I didn't get a medal at Nationals.
S:Did you recognize that it would be your last competition at Japan Nationals?
D:Yes. I thought I was just keep running to the Sochi, after then I would think about my next step. However, during my steps in FP at Nationals, I felt this was going to be end for me. After I finished all jumps, I finally realized that my performance was not to be worth for the podium and then I was in despair without thinking the selection criteria.
