Shyla, you are quite right: Dai is so kind and attentive... His smile and eyes are so warm while teaching to little kids. His commitment to spread this sport is to be praised, but it is clear that he is really enjoying the simple fact of being with children on ice. How lovely.

Genki, thank you for links. The Shibutani's video is funny: Alex and Maya are great in expressing their artistic aspect also off-ice and involving their fellow skaters. They have already made a dozen videos (see their Shib Sibs channel) and some are really amusing.

Masy, I lost in both lotteries for FrOI rehearsal (Aug 22), so I bought "stand" ticket, the sale of which started today at noon (all others were gone ages ago) for Friday show "to see it first". Have to clean up my schedule now.

Oh! let's talk..... I'm very very sorry to say this now, but I got one for rehearsal (just one...sorry )
And I thought it's already enough luck for me so I didn't try that standing ticket.

TBH, I was a little bit tired with the scrambles for the tickets (FOI, NHK---nothing so far and...).
But after I watched that Dai with kids video, I really got refreshed.  
I will enjoy my luck this year. And I will send my love and cheers no matter where I am.

Now I'm very happy, I can see Daisuke and his new program soon.  
(I know everybody envies me  )

Can someone in the know explain Hokkaido camp to me. Does Dai train there every summer?
I am asking because after seeing the photos I realized that there are no other elite skaters at the camp.

Well, Akko was in Hokkaido too, but Dai-chan was training with Team Nagamitzu

Team Nagamitzu has been training in Hokkaido since Summer of 2010.

Um... I think it's too early to comment about Chan's new program.
(Frankly I decide not to say anything about all skater's programs until Nationals.) 
Anyway, I enjoyed Chan's last season's FP and felt he decided to improve his artistic side.
I will be watching him how to handle this one during whole season.

Oh, I still can't belive all this - lottery for rehearsals, "stand" tickets...   He really is a rock star!    Who else in the world has every news clip about him, made in slow-mo and set to the music by the fans?

I liked Patrick's program even though he doubled most of his jumps. Nice Quad triple in the beginning but then the jumps went downhill. Nice choreography from Wilson and I thought Patrick skated well to the music. Very nice footwork section too. One of my criticism of Patrick other programs besides falling is that he has no musicality and that his artistry looks forced. I do see improvement.

What the heck was going on between Patrick and his coach at the end of his performance. First I thought he is just winded and trying to catch his breath before he left the ice. But he would not leave the ice. His coach looked like a crazy woman screaming at him. He did not say a word just skated back and forth and looked at her very strangely.

Thanks for posting ilica. Oda won the competition. Looking for his video.

I had been thinking what to be done for the Olympics, like I should do this and do that, in the last season. But in this season I  let things take their own course.  I want to keep up with it successfully, but don't want to go against it.

It's way too early to judge how it will develop, to me at least, (I love his last season's program too much to be fair) but, wow! So some of the skaters are competing ALREADY!?

Yes, as far as I know in Canada Ice Dancers Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir took part at Québec Championship (or something similar) ten days ago.
As for Patrick, it seems that he was not full ready to compete. I found him too "heavy" in movements and landings, some jumps came out bad.

With regard to artistry and emotional expression.....Dai-chan is by far more and more emotional in 1 minute practice
