Shoma set a JW record score with his Short. 84,87 is a score that so many Seniors did not achieve in their whole career. IMO only two Men can achieve more that 80 without quads: Dai and Jeremy Buttle. And now Shoma!!!

Congrats to Shoma for winning the Gold and to Sota for winning the Bronze, well done!

I was a little worried that Shoma would not come in first his jumps were a little off today.
He injured the instep on his right foot before 4CC's maybe it is not quite healed yet or
maybe the pressure just got to him, he is young. He came in 2nd in the FS but
1st overall.  

Boyang from China received a TES score of 90.81 (amazing jump clinic) but Shoma
did enough and his SP combined with his excellent PC's score made up for the gap in the TES.
Boyang won the Silver medal.

In his interview he apologized to his fans that his FS was not his best. He also was asked  
who his skating idol was and he said Daisuke

Boyang recovered from the issues he had in SP and the technical layout of his FS is impressive. Sorry for him, IMO I find Boyang just a jumping cricket with no connection with music and very stiff postures/lines. I don't like his skating overall. Unbearable to watch.

Congrats to Sota, for jumping from 7th to 3rd place!!! Indeed he kept calm and had a mature approach to his Free. Omedetoo!!

I loved the way Shoma replied to interviewer, who asked who his "idols" were, assuming he has more than one. Shoma did not hesitate a second, calling Daisuke "senshu" as if still a competitor. "Takahashi Daisuke senshu desu"

Dai-chan wrote that during last seasons he felt useless and not-wanted in Japanese skating field. Hope that hearing Shoma's words Dai feels now re-assured about his role as "diamond" of Japanese figure skating and the immense influence he has on new generations of skaters.

I agree with you about Boyang he has the impressive TES but needs a lot of
improvement in his overall skating.

I am thrilled for Shoma! He has worked so hard this season and to end it
with a World title is special a new beginning in Seniors for him next season.

Sota is a fighter and a really good skater. We will see a friendly rivalry between the two of
them I am sure. Team Japan are so close that is why I call it a friendly rivalry.
