Today, on the 25th of August, they had a rehearsal show they do every year before actual shows.

Article says Daisuke skated his new SP, and the music he uses for this SP is ORIENTAL.
What do you guys feel about his new costume?

Here's a video clip from evening news, they reported only Daisuke's first performance after his surgery in this May.

He has not officially announced yet the music he or David Wilson chose for this SP.
I have no idea about the name of the music he is using, music can't be heard on this video.




Actually, I had been worrying a little about this SP since the day I heard David Wilson would choreograph Daisuke until now.
But after watching this video, I have a pretty good hunch that I'm going to like this SP even though I haven't seen a whole program.

Maybe, someone from this forum or other forums will go and see the whole program in FOI and will give us more information, I hope.
I'm looking forward to hearing about the detail of this SP.

I think the costume is somewhat... Brian Joubert-ish (minus the velvet pants)


I also watched that news clip you posted, and while the music sounds clearer (compared to other youtube videos on the same subj), I still don't recognize it. I'm glad Daisuke's trying something different this season.

Can't wait for the SP vids! And FOI reports!

Men's figure skater Daisuke Takahashi(25)-Kansai University graduate school-introduced this season's
SP for the first time.
After he had a surgery of bold removal in his right knee, this is the first time he skates in public.
He fell on 3A, otherwise, he demonstrated his smooth steps which he trained hard while his off season.
Takahashi says "I feel uneasy skating in public because of lack of practice, but I want to make it
(my program) my own little by little (through Friends on Ice shows).

This one is almost the same as what Daisuke was saying in the news video.
I hope his recovery process and training are going well, and hope he doesn't hesitate to show what he can do right now.

As for the costume, I like it. Though I suspect I like everything that wears Dai.
But knowing him - be ready to see many costumes this season.

I really like his costume for the SP, at first I thought it looked plain, but now with these bigger pics I see it has beautiful details.

I hope there are videos of FOI on youtube soon, I read some reports that the show whas amazing and hilarious

Yes, I went there and enjoyed two shows last Sunday. But sorry, I can't find time to write about it so far…………

Dai-chan looked fine. In his new SP he landed 3F+3T 2A 3Lz in the first show and 3F+3Lo 3A(both hands down) 3Lz in the second. IIRC, Ceremony of Passage was mainly used in the program. (BTW, he landed beautiful 3A twice in another program, La Strada with Yamato Tamura. That was hilarious!)

A TV program relating to FoI is planned to be aired tomorrow morning(10:30-11:30am JST) in Japan.

It's a kind of documentary of Friends on Ice. Last year Mambo SP was aired in the same TV program, probably his new exotic SP will be aired in a similar way. Hope some kind person will post the video soon!!

When I find time, I'll report more detail.

Thank you soooo much! Sorry that I was so impatient! :-( :-)

I am happy for you that you could see two shows - wow! :-)

Great that Daisuke landed these jumps and that he looked fine. I can imagine that skaters are a little nervous to show their new programme because it is all so "fresh"/"raw" still. I hope Daisuke gained confidence by skating that weekend :-)

It would be lovely if the tv programme about FOI appeared on youtube as well :-) Perhaps we are lucky and see some more of Daisuke's new short programme :-)

My very first impression (after having watched it just once), the program looks great!

But I want to watch it 1000 more times to get used to it, to notice all the little details, to catch its mood and idea.

Gosh, I want to see it live so badly!

I also watch a lot of time to memorize all the details.
Amazing program!

I am so glad to see Daisuke continuing to push himself and do different things artistically with his skating. I LOVE THIS PROGRAM! It's seems so much smoother and natural at this point in the year than the Mambo program did last year. I think it has potential to score huge under the system and if he adds a quad, it'll be unbeatable.

Thank you ever so much - it is so great to see his new programme. I was sitting here at the youth hostel in London and I was really missing a heart beat The new programme is so dramatic and suits Daisuke very well! He looks so serious, it seemed a little bit unusual for me to see him so serious after having seen him smile so many times before. But, of course, that's what he should do while skating to this music. I also have to watch the programme over and over again, but my first impression is that he is skating and jumping quite well. His spins are really fast again - great.

I see it becoming a masterpiece as the season progresses. This program is so different from everything Daisuke's done so far.

The group Mambo was EPIC! I love how they did everything with nearly exact choreography like Dai's short program - even the spins, lol. I can watch that 1758934758923423 times and not be tired of it!
