| Sad news today for all figure skating fans. In a press conference Stéphane announced his retirement today citing a groin injury. Hopefully we will see him in lots of shows where he really shines! He will be missed dearly! I can't believe we've lost 2 of the best and most complete skaters in one season. http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/10/16/sports/FIG-Lambiel-Retires.php | |

| Thanks Artemis. I'm shocked although I knew this was a possibility. I never got the chance to see him compete live but I hope that one day I can go to one of his shows. I wish Stephane all the best for the future! | |

| I'm really shocked for this news! I'm so sad! Jeffrey and now Stéphane... I saw him last saturday during a gala. He performed his new SP... he had some problems with jumps but he was beautiful and elegant and I loved his program ... I will miss him! This is an article in french, but you can also see his program performed last saturday: http://www.20min.ch/ro/sports/autres/story/21760125 | |

| he says that, a pain appeared at his left groin at the last World championship in Sweden He prepared new programs, but after 2 weeks, he needed to stop because the pain, going to Munich to have physical treatments, coming back to the ice, then again to the physician. It was not a way to train at 100%. And because his health problem, and lack of training he is unable to reach his goals (World champion in Los Angeles, and a gold medal in Vancouver) Of course, he will not retire from figure skating, but he intends to work on gala programs and show something less technical but original in the artistic side
I AM SO SAD !! the ice rink seems so empty now without Buttle and him. | |

| It is so sad news and I'm very SHOCKED!! Stéphane is just 23 years old and it's too early to retire. I never forget the his sad eyes at Exhibition's practice after the Worlds 2008.... - anne-marie wrote:
