| I just read that Oda withdrew... poor kid. I hope that Kensuke Nakaniwa can get silver... within 50 points of Daisuke! LOL
As for the ladies, I hope it will be a great competition and that they'll all skate their best. I especially hope that Akiko Suzuki will do well enough to get 1 or 2 Grand Prix assignements next year.
Leode, are you going to Osaka?

| Thank you all for the news! Good job, Dai-chan! Now, I really hope he will skate a great FP! I think he will not have difficulties for winning this competition without Oda, so he can skate without pressure, try two quads and do a great performance! GO DAISUKE!!! | |

| Hi, DTFF members, now I'm back to Hotel from the competition. And many thanks for the result and information, everyone. Yey!! Congrats, Daisuke, you are the 1st of short program!! You did a great job!! Warming-up 6 min.During the warming-up, Daisuke seemed that he was more relaxed than GPF because of his home town Osaka. Every time he jumped 3F-3T and he did 3A twice for making sure to do jumps, he asked Morozov about his jump's condition. His 3A was very high and stayble. So I was sure that he wouldn't fell 3A anymore. And he also practiced CCSt. Short Program "Swan Lake"
Daisuke jumped 3F-3T, 3A and 3Lz completely. In fact I saw his very high 3A near the rink. I was very impressed his remarkable jump. His footwork was fine, however, his spin's rotation was not enough. I think that it was only his mistake today. But the crowd of Namihaya dome was very excited his performance and was clapping hands with his emotional step!! We can see this sight everywhere he performs "Swan Lake" in this season. After the performance, he bowed to the audience with big smile. And I saw he blew his kiss to everyone, but I'm not sure. It was very rare for Daisuke. Because I never seen it before. While Daisuke was waiting for the result at Kiss and Cry, it took a lot of time for judgement and he said himself "Not yet??" with a smile. Suddenly, as the announcement said "We will take a break for 25 min." I thought "Why?? his judgement was not announced yet!!". After everyone was waiting his result, we were very surprised to see his high score at last! I'm very glad his big smile and he seemed that he was almost satisfied with his result of short program. I'd like to see his big smile again tomorrow!! _________________ GO DAISUKE!!

| Thank you yerina, MissC, and miyu for all of the information!!! A big thanks to Leode as well for your detailed report from Osaka as well the Japanese articles/pictures of the men's SP!! I really enjoyed looking at those pictures very much. - Quote :
- I can't understand people saying he is only a technical skater...
I highly disagree with this and believe that those who say this really are not familiar with Daisuke's skating at all and are being very unfair to him. In addition to having a high level of technical capability, Daisuke at his very best can also show a great amount of musicality, expression/emotion, passion, and intensity in his skating (the artistic aspects). In my opinion he is one of the best (near the top) in the men's field in terms of being able to maintain an impressive balance between both the technical and artistic aspects of skating. It's cute that he blew a kiss to the audience at the end of his SP performance. I'm sure that he had a lot of his school friends there too, so hopefully that didn't make him too nervous. Here are some English translated articles that I found about the men's SP for you all to look at in addition to those posted by Leode. http://www.asahi.com/english/Herald-asahi/TKY200712270050.htmlhttp://search.japantimes.co.jp/rss/sp20071227a3.htmlhttp://www.japantoday.com/jp/news/423762

| Hi again guys. I just found a link to Daisuke's SP here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AC79bMTL340Thanks very much to the original video poster Yusei****!! Dai's performance here is as great as ever in my opinion. I was really shocked to see the actual kiss that he blew to the audience though. It was quite unexpected and unlike his normal actions. It was also more aggressive than I had thought it would be. | |

| Thanks for the report and article/photo links, Leode (and UMgal for the video and English article links). Daisuke never seemed like the type to blow kisses at the end of a performance. Maybe he was never comfortable doing it until now...I guess he and Stephane are more alike than I thought. Also, I'm glad to read that Miki took some time for herself after NHK. She really needed/deserved it. | |
