| Shyla, I confirm: the man is Mishin. Although Dai was in Courchevel for Richaud, they shared the same rink many hours/day. I know that Mishin is jealous of his students, so maybe he was there to control everything was OK Or maybe, out of his love for perfection, he rushed to help Dai in keeping the "right pose" Yes, the story of the new house is so heartbreaking. They were not a wealthy family, anyway his parents struggled to let him pursuit his dreams. Oh, and I have read that Dai called his mum to inform her of his comeback few hours before the official announcement on the website. Let's hope Dai's family and friends (and the Takahashi's new house) had no issues after the heavy rains that caused floods and landslides in many parts of Western Japan in the last days, included Okayama Prefecture and Kurashiki, claiming 155 lives with buildings and roads destroyed. I've found this article of CNN - dated 3 days ago. You can see pictures of houses flooded in Kurashiki and other places. Kurashiki is dear to all Dai's fans. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/07/09/asia/japan-floods-intl/index.htmlIt's been a terrible time of late for our Japanese friends: earthquake and now this awful weather. We, as Dai's fans, are close to Japanese people in this tought time. Today's pic by Boomsports: Dai at the Kansai rink on 12 January 2010, during a public practice session before leaving for Vancouver. Automatic translation: although the rink can host only 500 people, they received more than 3.500 requests. | Hi Pattina. I admire Dai's parents for their perseverance in supporting Dai's dream. It wasn't easy on the entire family but they worked hard to achieve their goals. It's such a great success story and so lovely of Dai to repay them with such a heartfelt, tremendous gift. What a great son but, then again, what great parents and brothers he has.
I certainly hope their house wasn't affected by the flooding. Thank you for the link. I think it was overshadowed on our news due to the Thai soccer team's rescue. I did see Japan's National soccer team sending a message to the Thai boys and their coach. I know it's a bit off topic but I am thrilled they were rescued and are doing well.
I know nothing of Mishin but can't imagine why someone would be jealous of their students. I suppose there are always egos involved in any sport.
What cute pics of Dai from 2010!

Sorry for the OffTopic. Whenever one of his athletes has ended a competition, Mishin hurries her/him out of K&C and nearby zone. He always keeps away people and journalists, unless it is a scheduled meeting. At Lombardia Trophy 2017, the day after the Ladies' Free, I had the chance to see Carolina in the rink hall, chatting with a woman. There were no journalists or tv crew and - apparently - no one else was in the hall. I grabbed the chance and stopped to greet and congratulate with her. She was very kind and smiling, as usual. Less than 30 seconds and I felt hands on my shoulders and turned around. Mishin was there, gently but firmly pushing me away from Caro!! Today's SPOEMON on OHK - the tv service features Dai's comeback with parts of the press-conference and a short interview at Takatsuki Ice Rink (Kansai Uni) with moments of on-ice practice and gym. This kind Japanese fan tweeted it into 2 parts https://twitter.com/moco0611chi/status/1017948410886799361Have you all a Dai-gorgeous week-end!!!

| I'm also about to go off topic again so thank you everyone for your patience.
Pattina, I had no idea that you met Caro. I'm so happy for you and wasn't surprised that she was so kind! How rude of Mishin to push you away while you were having a conversation. It's a shame that he doesn't seem to realize that fans are important to the skaters. I would imagine the cheers from the audience would help their performance and confidence so he should rethink his strategy (and acquire some manners).

| Yesterday's pic by Boomsports. Same open practice on 12/01/2010. In the comment they recall when asked about one of his rivals Dai made a mistake and called him a "black hole" instead of "dark horse". Source https://twitter.com/boomsports/status/1018121592117682176Have you seen Kazuki Tomono at Worlds 2018? He was the "last minute" replacement of Yuzuru Hanyu and he surprised everyone with a stunning FS and an unexpected 5th place overall. (3rd FS - I saw him live and OMG what an explosion of power!!! Kazuki really rocked the arena!) So now he is considered the new rising star among Japanese Men. During a recent interview he was asked about Dai's comeback: How do you feel about Daisuke Takahashi returning to competition?
Tomono: He’s a skater I’ve respected since I was little, but he’s a god-like figure that even now I haven’t caught up to… It’s a great honor that we may be able to compete together in the final group at Japanese Nationals. In order to become a skater who can fight and shine at the top of the world, I must practice with the feeling of overtaking Daisuke Takahashi.Source https://tomonokazuki.tumblr.com/post/175851120496/interview-with-kazuki-post-doi-from-tv-guides The great sense of respect Dai is able to raise among younger skaters is one of his many peculiarities. Dai is still the person they look at as icon of figure skating. And it's quite natural that Kazuki's aim is to overtake Dai, as sport is always developing, but Kazuki's wish is full of respect and admiration. Have a great Dai-Sundai!!!

| This is the possible explanation for Dai's visit to Chai-san: according to this tweet by Jack Gallagher Dai is going to Toronto Cricket Club from 16 to 24 July. Mind!!!: I report it here, although as usual Gallagher does not give links to reliable sources and probably he has heard through the grapevine. I don't follow him and I haven't seen this retweeted by Japanese fans I follow. It was reported to me just today. So don't trust it until we have more info and (let's hope!!) pics of Dai with David (at TCC or elsewhere) https://twitter.com/sportsjapan/status/1014669274323955712 | |

Dai has still the bruise on his right arm Pattina This link does not work or has been taken down. Very strange. I tried it right now from your post and it works. Try this one. https://www.instagram.com/p/BlQPyACDf2OkZfFhpJnkj0Bfp1sfYBUyIOLPVg0/?hl=it&taken-by=chai_kobe
I read that tweet from Gallagher too. Sometimes his sources are spot on sometimes not. I tend to believe this one though because Dai needs to get his SP as it is mid July already.
The timing is correct, you are right Shyla. As I said, I don't follow him and I did not seen the info retweeted by, for example, Daisuke Takahashi Road to Sochi and/or other twitter Japanese accounts that are usually very very updated and quick in reporting every bit of news about Dai-chan. Probably the lack of sources made them all cautious in spreading the news. I'm still on holidays so I have time to update with new Boomsports pic later. Let's hope to have news of Dai soon! Have you all a great Dai-week!!

| Shocked and devastated by the news: Denis Ten has passed away at the age of 25. He has died after being stabbed by two thieves who were stealing something in his car. My heart is in pieces.... https://twitter.com/ISU_Figure/status/1019930612747177984Denis was one of the many skaters who celebrated Dai's comeback. They were friends and have strong bounds, sharing the same artistic view. My prayers for your family. RIP Denis and skate for ever your beautiful Art in Heaven. | |

Rest in Peace Denis. | |

| Dai's memory of Denis - posted 5 minutes ago. Love the pic Dai decided to share. I bet it is Dai's own pic from some backstage. My translation with on-line translator. Don't trust too much. I'm still crying. Dennis ... can not find the true words. A man who was tender [kind] with everyone. Though still it was the future. I cannot believe. | Hi Pattina and Shyla. I just heard about Denis Ten on the news here. According to the news report 2 men were trying to steal a mirror from his car. Perhaps Denis attempted to stop them. These 2 men will never know the pain they've caused his family, friends, the skating world and his fans. It's utterly senseless. I am beyond devastated and in shock.
When I watched Men's Skating at Sochi, where I first discovered Dai, there were 2 other skaters that also impressed me. Tatsuki Machida and Denis Ten. Thank you Denis for bringing us such joy with your performances. We'll never forget you. Rest well.

It was so sad I watched the funeral and cried for his loved ones. It was heartbreaking. On a brighter note Dai is looking great! Thanks for all the updates Pattina!

| Hi Shyla. You are much braver than I was. I'd like to think that wherever Denis is he's aware of the outpouring of love he's been receiving. I also hope in some small way it eases his family's pain to know just how beloved Denis was by so many people not only in his own country but by so many around the world. His short life was so impactful.
Hi Pattina. I'm sure you're still feeling the way most of us are so please don't feel like you have to keep us updated if your heart isn't in it right now. Your efforts are much appreciated but take some time if you need it. We all understand.
