I was trying to putting a bit more to add about Kyoto Workshop but my PC died just on the evening before the three days weekend... Have to wait for my PC repair shop to open after.

Yes. I noticed it this early morning. Strange. It was just a selfie of Dai and his friend.

Yes, it is a year today. During the mid-day break at work when I open the Time Line of my Twitter account... Started with a news log looked like a joke and soon flooded with tweets of everyone.

I don't remember how I handled the rest of the day. No matter how much I expected the division, supported it, preferred it, understood it and felt happy about it, it came as a great shock. And I am still so sad that we could not see him off his last competitive ice with thundering applause from the entire audience that filled every single seat.

Since that day, he entertained us so much, half of the year on ice or public scenes, and the last half in NY giving us updates often, with a great extra summer gift on his temporal return in Japan.

And today we could see a little gift from him:




He added a profile description of his being Daisuke Takahashi 'Figure Skater' today, just after a year as if he tells us fans something.

^ I stared yesterday at the FIGURE SKATER words and wondered how on earth I haven't noticed them before...

So one year later he gives us this gift.
Thank you Daisuke san.


Life is so strange. If someone told me back then that exactly one year later Dai will post a photo from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, (from all places!) - maybe it would've been a little consolation for me. But I probably wouldn't believed.

What else Daisuke could write except "Figure Skater"? He is not a coach or a dancer. He is planning to host his ice shows in a couple of months. So, this description sounds quite logical to me. Of course if it has a deeper competitive meaning, then MWO again comes to mind . Plu had a press-conference yesterday where among other things he said he got an offer from MWO-2016 to compete there, and now they are in talks. Meaning, since there is no a No answer, he will skate, now they are just fixing the formalilties. When they are done, Plu will be the fourth participant. With the 5 entries in total, at least one will go to a Japanese skater. Dai, Oda or Tatsuki. All are Osaka guys. Plu also mentioned that because of his health issue he doesn't do quads now. So, Dai won't need this jump to compete against the Russian. But he will need a 3A. Dai vs. Plu? Why not.

Oh let`s talk, you know very well why some of us tear up a little when seeing the words.
He doesn't need any description on Instagram, until now he was just Daisuke Takahashi. And we knew, he was "Daisuke Takahashi on a mission" to find a new purpose in life. It might have been something totally outside of figure skating world. There even was an eventuality he might have ended up taking an odd job in NY and just live there spending his evenings drinking and enjoying NY life. New York can be addictive.  
So when on the anniversary of his retirement he adds the "Figure Skater" description to his name - it is BIG.

Of course it would be great if he decided to compete at MWO!

Medalist Winner Open is an "invitational competition" sanctioned by ISU taking place in Japan

Skaters have to present "A well balanced program with emphasis on artistic merit"  and the layout is basically a Short Program: 3 jumps, 3 spins and a choreo sequence.

Yes, you are quite right, but as Ilica pointed out, when he left for NY he was looking for something and after one year from retirement he decided to tell the world what he feels he is. My feeling is that Dai does nothing without a meaning as he is able to say a lot without words.

Same feelings here!!! So to me also his decision is BIG!!

Eh... the first 3 minutes of this video shows old story of Momotaro. Okayama claims its birth place(?) though it's never known, but now Okayama is most known area of production of peaches in Japan. (The big, white and juicy... misses them a lot! )
