| Hi guys! Just read this article of Chicago Tribune about Mr. Cinquanta's proposal of relevant changes in Figure Skating and Speed Skating. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/international/chi-figure-skating-boss-proposes-radical-changes-to-sport-20140325,0,3069833.storyhttp://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/chi-ottavio-cinquanta-letter-20140325,0,885489.storyProposals on Figure Skating are really radical: no more Short program, only one program/skater, same time lenght for all categories, total anonymous judgment, Junior and Senior Worlds hold in the same venue and same time. And the main reason for all these changes.....saving money!!! IMO with only one chance to get points, skaters will be forced to focus on ever increasing difficulties in technical elements (quads, quads, quads.....) and so the artistic side of skating will be put aside. I don't know if his proposals will become reality....if so maybe it's better for Dai-chan to retire before new rules destroy the sport he loves so much. Dai's super and out-of-this-earth artistry and perfection in lines, moves, etc....could be totally ignored by judges, too busy in scoring jumps to notice anything else. OK - it's my opinion, without any relevance. What do you think about it? I'm curious.... | |
