| The tickets are on sale. I've got mine. I bought them via http://www.ticketone.itI know I can't be sure, but I think Daisuke'll be there. To me, it's the main reason to go. | |

| If I remember well, none of the freshly-crowned Olympic Champions were at 2006 Worlds and only Yagudin at 2002 Worlds, right? For his own good, I hope Dai-chan will have better things to do than come back to Torino a 4th time! (even though, of course, it would be very convenient for me to see him there) | |

I believe you're absolutely right about that, MissC. The winners rarely bother to go to Post-Olympic Worlds.

| Since the official practices have started, I guess it's time to move to this thread now? http://www.47news.jp/CN/201003/CN2010032201000092.htmlAccording to this article, Daisuke tried the quad flip three times today in practice, but didn't have any sucessful attempts. It doesn't say he's going to put it in his program (he probably won't), but he still wants to keep trying it. | |

I'm going to Torino tomorrow morning. I will skip the CD, but I'll probably watch all the other events (I have an all-event ticket). I don't like the Palavela, but I'm very excited about everything else! The skating, the city, the FOOD!!, seeing friends, etc. I don't think I'll have any internet access though, so I probably won't be able to post anything until I get home. And I'm glad to hear that Dai's practicing the 4F again. Hopefully he'll attempt it in competition one day, just for the fun of it... he's been working on it for so long now!

| Thanks for the video, Genki! It's still underrotated, but it looks better than I thought it would! Here's another article about the 4F: http://mainichi.jp/enta/sports/general/news/20100323k0000m050063000c.htmlIt says he's landed the 4F in practices in Japan. Utako says, "If he falls and it's underrotated, he'll get about the same amount points no matter which one he does (toe or flip). He's trying the flip with an eye on next season. We don't want to set limits. His flip is stable, so we'll look at how it's going and then decide whether or not to do it." Even if it doesn't work out now, I would love to see him land the 4F in competition someday before he retires! | |

| http://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2010/03/23/07.htmlTried the 4F seven times in practice today, and had a lot of two-foot landings. He said, "It's starting to feel good," and "I'm 50-50 on whether to do the flip (or toe)." OMG, I can't believe he's actually considering putting it in his program!! If he falls and underrotates he'll at least get 1.5 points for the flip rather than 0 points for the toe, so unless the toe is much more consistent, I can see the logic in trying the flip. But with the world title on the line and so many people saying he shouldn't do a quad at all to secure the win, I think it's really awesome that he has the courage to challenge this. Of course, it's still not a good strategy, but the word "strategy" clearly doesn't exist in Daisuke's dictionary! | |

I agree with you. The vid was from the first practice and he said it was better than the previous day. I have a feeling he will likely go for it. Can he "WOW" us? I hope so!!! - glorydave wrote:

Thank you but I'm afraid we can't see it outside the U.S. More news about the last practice. They are similar to ones which Calliope has introduced. http://www.sanspo.com/sports/news/100323/spm1003231123003-n1.htmTakahashi checked two kinds of quad jumps. The 4F, if he lands it it will be the first 4F, is more closer to succes than yesterday and he said "I feel good on it." "I couldn't concentrate on practice" after the Olympics. He struggled to keep his concentration. "I'm ignited after I came to Turin. The atomosphere of the comptition makes me sprited." http://sankei.jp.msn.com/sports/other/100323/oth1003230757001-n1.htmTakahashi landed 4F and kept himself in good shape. http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/winter/skate/figure/headlines/20100323-00000010-kyodo_sp-spo.htmlTakahshi landed 4F and was getting into top shape. Takahiko Kozuka did good quads. Nobunari Oda often fell on downgraded jumps. GO DAI-CHAN!!!

Now I'm wondering what he should do when he pops 4F into 3F? How about this? 3F, 3A+2T, 3Lo, 3F+3T*, 3S*, 3A*, 2A*, 3Lz+2T+2Lo* = 57.95 Comparing to the case he pops 4T into 3T 3T, 3A+2T, 3Lo, 3F+2T*, 3S*, 3A*, 3Lz*, 3Lz+2T+2Lo* = 56.23 he can earn more points by attempting 4F. But did he practice it enough? If he does it like this.... 3F, 3A+2T, 3Lo, 3F+3T*, 3S*, 3A*, 3Lz*, 3Lz+2T+2Lo* = 51.02 If he doubles his first jump, he can do like this... 2F, 3A+2T, 3Lo, 3F+3T, 3S, 3A, 3Lz, 3Lz+2T+2Lo = 53.2

Just want to wish GOOD LUCK to Dai-chan. He came so close last time in 2007 in Tokyo, first in LP, just a small mistake 3A in SP.
He's Mastero on ice! | |

| Thank you for the information, DTFF members! And welcome to DTFF, BiBi! Here is the latest news after the draw. Daisuke said "I'm aiming to the top since I was assigned and I'd like to show my good performance to everyone as a Olympic bronze medalist. There are some favorites for the medals, so I keep an eye on the ball. I'm doing the practice of 4F for the next season." Actually, Daisuke has no intention to do 4F in his free program. I think it's really risky for him to jump 4F it's not getting used to do in the program. _________________ GO DAISUKE!!
