| Yes...yes I am. I plan to go to Skate America too. Crazy but with a retirement block looming at the end of the season, I want to see as many skaters as possible.
NHK looks to be a gauntlet. Brian Joubert, Daisuke, Johnny Weir, Jeremy Abbott, Takahiko Kozuka are all assigned there. I wish I could go there but I'm satisfied with going to Canada.

Yeah, I'm wondering that Nobunari Oda will also attend the NHK as TBA. _________________ GO DAISUKE!!

| Thanks for the news! NHT Trophy will be very difficult! But I think the most important thing for Daisuke is not to win these events, but to get confidence again with competitions... Do you think Daisuke will attend a competition before GP? Karl Shafer or something like that? I'm sure that I can't go to Japan or Canada... BTW... I'm very happy! GO DAISUKE!!! | |

| Yeah thank you all so much for this informations!!
The ISU-People did an exiting choice this season, they put Daisuke together with Joubert and Weir and in the ladys Yuna, Sasha and Mao too!
I wonder, if thats so good choice~~~
Glorydave, is it usual for skater that pass one season to do that? Maybe Daisuke will really attent to Karl Schäfer or Nebelhorn! Thats in germany *drop* In my home!! *falls off chair*

| Shoot.... I was hoping he'd get an assignment in Europe. I'll just have to keep my hopes up for one of the smaller competitions. It's probably good for him that he didn't get one of the first competitions. Gives him more time to prepare. Man, now I'm so excited for next season.... And it's so far away! I just hope Eurosport will follow the GP-competitions this year as well. | |

| I am so excited to see his name at the list for NHK and SC - what a crazy competition NHK is going to be - so many big names!!! I really wish I could go to Nagano... I really hope he is back to his old self by then. I am still so worried about him. | |

Yes yes, i was really surprised, that they broadcasted the whole season last year! And it could make figure skating more popular in europe, not only this stupid football and tennis everywhere But im a little confused, because i thought, if a skater pass one season, he might go to compete in only one competition the next season! Like Nobunari had last season~~ I mean, not that i wouldnt like it, that Daisuke compete in two Grand Prixs

| Sabse, there was a new rule passed by the ISU that allows skaters who missed last season by "no fault of their own" to get 2 GPs. This would apply to Daisuke because he was injured.
Even without the new rule, Daisuke would have still ended up with 2 GPs. He's currently 20th in the world and the top 24 are guaranteed one GP. Also, because Japan hosts NHK, they are allowed to pick any 3 of their men to compete there regardless of rank or whether or not they competed the previous season.
Nobunari was 28th in the world right before the selection last season and he wasn't on the season's best list (since he didn't compete in the 2007-2008 season). He wasn't guaranteed any assignments because of this but since Japan is a host, they could pick him for NHK. Hope that explains it.

I envy you! And yes, you are right.... Many skaters will retire at the end of this season..... - Danke wrote:

He will likely go to one of such competitions in Europe, I think. Or(And) Japan Open where the international judges will attend (but no ISU points). - glorydave wrote:

I totally agree with you. If he won't make GP Final, then he will be able to concentrate on Japanese Nationals. BTW Brian Joubert who will come to NHK!! , left a nice comment about Dai-chan in his interview after WTT in a Japanese Figure Skating magazine just published. (Talking about Japanese quad jumpers.) Q: You know very well which Japanese skaters jump a quad. Unfortunately Takahashi-senshu got injured this season. Brian: Yah, Daisuke couldn't participate in any competitions throughout this season. I was disappointed without him. He is a wonderful skater, as well as a nice guy.... I sincerely hope his preparation toward next season goes well. It's a big season, you know. He can aim for a medal. For me, his comeback would be dangerous but he is a good skater and I like him very much. I also want to compete with him.Thank you very much, Brian! You are a great sportsman! Stephane Lambiel also mentioned about him in his interview after SOI (last January) in the same magazine. I'm really sad about Daisuke. Because he is one of my favorite skaters. He had pushed himself hard last year and he is one of the favorites for Olympics. I don't know about the details of his injury...... I think he is in deep sorrow. I also had trouble with my knee before and it was not an easy problem. But if he knows well what he wants to do, I belive everything will go well. So Daisuke needs to realize clearly what he wants to do, more than anything. And in order to do so, he needs to be stronger than now... But he sure can! I'd like to say to him "I root for you."Oh, very sincere comment. Thank you, Stephane!!

| Thank you so much for the translation from the Japanese Figure Skating magazine, miyu! How very nice to read Brian and Stephane's comments about Daisuke. It is so good to know that other skaters miss him and respect him and want him to do well at the Olympics - just like us fans! | |
