| Hi everyone!! One day has passed and I'm still thrilled and super-hyped. The news has shocked the fs world and is having a huge echo everywhere. I started this new topic to collect in one place all info, pics, links etc related to Dai's announcement of his comeback, to make easier for you to find. Some have been already posted in general topic, of course. Let's start from the beginning, from Dai's announcement in his official website posted in Japanese and English on July 01. Message from Daisuke Takahashi
First and foremost, I would like to announce my return to the competition from beginning of the new season, July 1st. In 2017 Japan Figure Skating Championships, I had the privilege to be present at the site from Media's standpoint and I was really moved by each skater's respective positions thus motivations, which made me realize that I want to fight and skate again in such tensed environment.
In 2014, due to my injury, I was unable to compete in the World Figure Skating Championships which was held in Japan, and Sochi Olympics Game became my last competition. In the same year in October 14th, I had retired as an eligible skater. It took me nearly 4 years from then, but now I would like to face fully with Figure Skating, and for me to catch up on my skating from the old days, I realized that returning to the competition is the answer.
Being away for 4 years, I understand that it will be beyond my imagination of how difficult it may be for me to get back in the game. But I would like to push and train myself even harder in order for me to achieve the feeling of giving all I've got and that is the one thing that I couldn't accomplish before my retirement. Needless to say but I am really excited and looking forward to skating as a competitor again in front of all the people who have been supporting me for all these years. Wish me luck.Source http://d1sk.com/en/This amazing and surprising information was soon reprised and reposted by almost all Japanese media and above all by fans. How did you learn it? As for me, I learned from Richaud's instastories (and I started crying out loud and jumping on my chair Post with links to Yahoo Japan press release from main Japaness newspaper after announcement https://www.facebook.com/DaisukeTakahashiRoadtoSochi/posts/1283481341789428A press conference was hold in Tokyo at 20:00 JT and later Dai was guest at FujiTV's S-SPARK Videos - thanks to kind uploader. In second video, starting from 10:30 glimpses of Dai practicing at Kansai Uni's rink. He jumps a 3A http://dai.ly/x6nbkla
http://dai.ly/x6nbee0English translation of Japanese press articles with Q&A at press conference!! Dai explains how he took the decision to come back and his expectations. Not thinking about international competitions now, his main goal is to compete at Nationals 2018, hoping to skate in last group at FS with Olympic gold and silver medalists. After he decided (after Nats 2017) he could start to practice regularly only in April. - I'm concerned that Daisuke is considering skating for 4 more years. Competition in Japan is hard at the moment and it's all about the jumps, which doesn't favour him. I'm really concerned about this, a year or two more might be doable but 4? I love him so much, and this would actually be the chance for me to probably see him in a competition since I never did before. So this should make me happy. But I'm only worried for him instead.
This is my last post in this forum, from over 4 years ago. And now Daisuke is coming back. To be honest, I haven't really fully grasped this fact yet. It just wasn't a possibility in my mind. I am still confused, have mixed feelings, anxiety, joy and all that. I just want to see him happy. And if he thinks it's possible, why not? Now all that's left is that I hope he will consider at least one B-competition or something in Europe. It sounds like it's all about Japan domestically for him, and that's understandable, but I missed out on seeing him back then, and a second time? No never. If he's going to NHK and Nationals, tickets will be impossible for us foreigners.

| Thanks Pattina for starting the new thread. This news defenitley deserves it. Nice to read you again MaiKitty. I wonder if Dai will go to NHK if invited? I guess it all depends on how he is progressing but he did say that he only wanted to skate domestically. I am so happy that he is competing again I don't care where or the results. | |

| Hello Shyla! Long time no see! I'm glad that Pattina and you are still so active here. It would've made sense that the forum died, but the love for Daisuke is so much stronger, thankfully! | |

| Pattina, from my comment on the other thread (that Dai looked like he was competing when he was learning new choreo) one might think I had a premonition but I am still in shock today! I have to admit that whenever I saw Dai in his role as an announcer, at the competitions, I always wondered what was going through his head and if he was missing competing. Especially at the Olympics. Thank you for starting this new thread. Your dedication to this forum is much appreciated!
Welcome back MaiKitty. I agree about the tickets. I'm sure they will be sold out quickly but don't give up hope. I suppose Dai is starting out slowly and easing back into it and if he does really well... who knows... you just might see him one day!
Shyla, I also don't care about the results as long as Dai is happy and at peace with himself. I hope his return will be everything he wants it to be.

| I still have to pinch myself from time to time to make sure it's really happening... I learned about this worldshaking news in the middle of the night, so after waking up next day, I was almost sure it was only a wonderful, but strange, dream... then I jumped out of the bed and run to the computer for confirmation. Afterwards I spent my Sunday with this stupid-blissful grin on my face (and occasionally, a horror in my eyes) - probably like many Dai fans all over the world. What a shocker Dai has gifted us with! I will never forget the feelings I had when seeing the headlines for the first time! Thank you Dai-chan. He has stated his reasons so clearly and beautifully (of course making me cry a few times) that there is nothing left to say, and not a bit of a doubt in his decision for me. (If I had any it was mostly because of the memory of heartbreaking end of Mao's comeback, but I can see now Dai situation is totally different) I can only say I'm so thrilled to be able to witness his path on competitive ice again. And happy beyond words to see the art of his skating in competition again! GO DAI-CHAN!!! Pattina, thank you so much for providing us with all the news and keeping this wonderful place running Shyla, Dancergirl, MaiKitty, great to see you all So, when we going to have a glimpse of Dai's new programs, what do you think? Will he show something on PIW or traditionally it's going to be on FOI? Just thinking of Friends on Ice and possible new SP makes me so nostalgic and excited | |

Same here!! For last Sunday I had scheduled some house-duties I had postponed for too long (too boring, for instance emptying and cleaning all kitchen's cupboards and similar...). As I always do when I switch my pc on, I had a look at Dai's IG, just in case he had posted a new pic or some instastories. As usual...nothing Then I noticed Richaud had new instastories. The first was the pic of Dai's website with the announcement. I started shaking, my hands trembling and I was repeating the Italian equivalent of "ohmygodohmygoddaiisbackohmygodheisback" like a mantra while opening Dai's website and reading the news. God bless you, in English!!! too!! So I logged to Twitter with its flood of tweets, pics, links (and a pm by Nobu) and I let myself go. Useless to say.... in the following hours I managed to do only 1/3 of scheduled house-works Reactions to Dai's comeback Not only Dai-fans were in turmoil, but all the figure skating world. I try to report here some comments. Akiko said in tv show (see specific post) "I will support you with all my strength" Misha Ge (on twitter and FB) It’s definitely a #HypeDay Today, because Artist back on the field 😌 #D1SK ✨ https://twitter.com/mishageofficial/status/1013367915444305920Blogger Jackie Wong - Rockerskating on IG - in this pic (thanks to Daisuke Takahashi Road to Sochi) you can read the great words by Aljona Savchenko!! Hiro san and Taka K. posted the same pic on IG (no hints when it was taken. Dai has his very recent hair-style, though. Look below at Oda's pic). Taka's comment "Daichan Gamba!" Miki Ando's instastory Kana Muramoto's instastory Cheers from Daiki Tanaka, tv commentator with Dai and Nomura san in Rio 2016 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bkwa7-ogQ84/?taken-by=daiki.tanaka_1980This dear fan has collected many instastories from Dai's friends. I don't know all the people, but can recognize Aruka Himai, Kana Muramoto, Miki Ando, Denis Ten, Jo Matsumura Source https://www.instagram.com/p/Bkv9-GBjTT2/?hl=it&taken-by=0312azuAwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...... wonderful pic by Nobu, practicing today with Dai English translation thanks to Daisuke Takahashi Road to Sochi "Good luck! | Hi Pattina. Just stopping by to thank you for posting all these links. I have to say I enjoyed reading the Japan Times article. I found it to be refreshingly positive. I love seeing Nobu with Dai. I wonder if Nobu will really come back, too. That would be amazing!

| Hi Pattina. I have often not agreed with the writer of the article so that's why I was pleasantly surprised by his opinion. I tried to ignore the comments by the "alleged coach" about the jumps because the rest of the article was so positive. If this coach really did say these things perhaps they are feeling threatened because Dai is... well, Dai and no one can top his artistry. They should also remember that a healthy Dai has a beautiful Triple A and Quads in his back pocket and I am looking forward to seeing all that he has in his bag of tricks!
Thanks so much for all the comments. One of my recent favourites is the photo of Dai with Mura. I love Mura and always felt he had so much to offer, seems like a lovely, humble person and was always under-rated by the judges.
